I reckon she goes no further than next doors Garden......what she does there i don't know.......never had a complaint....   4. I got to know old ST Anns in 1960..........as a Railway Van Lad making deliveries to all the busines's that existed back then.... All the old streets and houses and friendly people........Donkey hill and Lamartine st for some reason always stick in my mind.... Can't remember which.......but it was a very steep hill up to the 'Posher'' Thorneywood........where we delivered to 'Jubilee pickles' The following year i was working for Marsdens and got sent to a very busy 'Vernons store'' for a week just after its conversion to self-service.........busiest store

My Babs is the most complete loving Cat ive ever known..........from being that tiny stray Kitten from Hartlepool.3 years ago......she weighs Eleven pounds...(needs to lose a bit)....she goes no further than next door......the only people she lets fuss her are myself and Donna.......but strangley enough she lets other family members...she seems to know they are related...... With me having my odd voice. she even so. seems to understand every word i say ..........When i want her to come in i can't shout..so clap my hands and she comes running.......and when i dont have my speak

  10. 11d at Marsdens in the 60s good for window dressing so easy to display....they were made up in Yorkshire just north of Sheffield........ We never had toilet rolls when growing up......Dad always brought Railway time tables home from work.......i knew all the routes and stops between Nottingham victoria and everywhere up to Newcastle...as i Sat reading them at an early age............

Nice song written by Cole Porter in the 30s....and sung here by the Late Gary Shearston''' Used to get a kick from many drinks........but mere alcohol doesnt thrill me no more.......My first was a drop of ''Shippo's......and last was a ''whisky and Coke''.........tried the weed but that was the 60s....and not really got into it...

Just love Scotland and Glasgow in Particular.........Whilst working and staying up there.......i used to visit a Music Bar'' cant remember its name in the centre of Glasgow.......customers took their own instruments...could be anything really...Guitar..Trumpet..Saxaphone..even an Acordian (sp) and entertained everyone with them......got on great with the locals who told me Billy Connelly and Gerry Raferty played there in their younger days....

  16. ..Happy New year to you all..........Photo at Railway club Bulwell......great ''New years Eve's'' Spent most of my Teenage 'New years Eve's'' here...in the 60s........either behind the Bar or Dancing with my Mam and Aunts....must have been at least 20 family members there on these special nights...even my 'Uncle's (mostly ex miners and Railwaymen) loved a Dance.........bless em all.....i'm the only survivor........ Sorry wrong thread......but ney mind.... Well i was working at Marsdens when photo was taken....

Think this was their 1st big hit in 1963......i recall driving a Farrands/Marsdens van down to Peterborough to re-vamp a Counter Service Farrands into Self-service... and singing to this with Syd..Pete...and Mick.....my old workmates........ Stopped in Peterborough for a week (little did i know i;d live down there for a time in the 70s).......... Had all them Beatles style clothes back then...including the 'Cuban Heels'' Struggled to find a decent place to dance at night......it was in the days before they had thousands of immigrants...and the Peterborians wernt used to outsider

It was a magic time when we walked ''Our baby back home''....Bulwell to Basford after a night in the 'Adelphi' Picture house......aged 16 ish..no car we walked everywhere......even Bestwood estate to Bestwood Village over ''Meadow and farm''......all built on now.........then there was Jill from Coalville 1964...walked her home from Whitwick (next village) after watching ''Robin and the 7 hoods''......Nottstalgia will never die.......
