  8. Trogg,,i have an excellent memory from when i was 4 or 5 living on Bestwood estate,,,in 1949 my Mam or Dad would put me on the 28 bus on Andover road near the first cul-de-sac,,the bus then went along Andover up Hove road onto Leybourne dropping me off more or less outside your house.,,and from there i crossed the road and into my Grandma's house,at 126... Sometimes even way back in 1949 i caught the number 6 bus with my Grandma and travelled 2 or 3 stops to the far end of Arnold road to the rent office,,which was the number 6 Terminus... Even caught the 17 from Marble Arch to Adelphi with me mam,,,probably to see 'Gone with the wind'........... IF there was another bus route it would have been before my travels in the late 40s................
  9. Interviewing staff in Wellingborough all night........
  10. Along with 'Vivid' dreams every night.......whilst i'm semi awake first thing in the morning i often wonder where i am,,,ive lived in quite a few parts of the country and during my working years frequently lodged away,,,early days from aged 18 started my lodgings at Big Mauds in Coalville the gradually over the years progressed to nice hotels throughout Britain,,,anyway it often takes me a while not only to realise that job in Cardiff or wherever has finished,,and that i now live back in Notts. Edit....Is there a word for that Jill ?

  14. Got to share last nights crazy dream,,,,sat here with my Coffee and its all coming back..... I was in China with a Scotsman i used to work with,,,surrounded by Skyscrapers made out of tins of Heinz soup,,,and a lady was insisting she wanted Oxtail,,which was up the highest,,,anyway i sent the Scotsman,,,i woke up afore he got back.... 16. Never thought i'd say it......but here goes,,'''i have no interest at all in any football,,....Fanatical Forest fan from the age of 5...played until i was 40,, Nowadays i can't name a single Forest player.........i don't even look up the Forest result anymore,,,the wife bought a paper this morning and after the nice bit of ''Banter'' on this thread, thought i'd look for the result in the 'Sun'' newspaper,,,,could'nt find it,,,don't even know what league they are in........my love of the game has gone forever............

  18. Sign up the lads from Basford united and Hucknall town flavoured with a touch of Bulwell Baptists.....Got me Boots out this morning,,,need some new Noggs...... Thinking of making a comeback, but many rules have changed,,, 1/ No shoulder charging the keeper 2/ No passing back to Goalie 3/ No tackling from behind 4/ You can pass back from kick off 5/ You must swear,,all the time.. 6/ You must kiss teamates who score,,and them that don't score,, 7/ You must spit at every opportunity 8/You must make sign of the cross when going onto pitch,,even if you are not a church goer 9/You mustnt speak English too well,,especially if you are a manager 10/ You mustnt wear hard boots,,in case you hurt an opponent 11/ You mustnt head the ball,,in case it hurts 12/ You mustnt have any pride in the team/area you play for There are many more things that have changed,,,bugger it i'll put me boots back....
  19. That Marsdens was in Bulwell market and the Manager was Jack Pinder.........it closed in the mid 60s when they opened 'Savemore'' on main street,,,One of the ladies from there is 'friends' with me on facebook after seeing my remarks about Marsdens shops,,,Ivy and June were also real people and lovely,,.......just been thinking both would be in their 90s now......bless em xx

  22. Always wanted a ''Chaise Longue'' ever since i saw ''Eartha Kitt'' laying on one singing ''just an old fashioned girl'' Eartha,, laying one end....and Fenella Fielding the other,, with me in the middle,, Just an old fashioned dream
  23. Sorry to disagree 'NottyAsh'' but i'm certain the 18 never went onto Bestwood estate,,,the only two buses that did were the 6 and 28,,,not sure where the terminus for the 18 was exactly but i assume it was what it said on the tin ''Edwards Lane'' I grew up on Bestwood estate and caught the 6 or 28 for many years to get home,,,yes the 18 left from Trinity sq same as the 6 and 28,,but definitely didnt terminate on Bestwood,,
  24. Knew a few girls down that way Jill.........sadly no conquests ,, Edit........Dolly nearly was,,,but her Dad put a stop to it,,when he saw her in my Granville basket going down Hove road....
  25. Arnold road without doubt,,however cant think why the bus had stopped there,,,the number 6 Terminus was top of the hill behind and across the road,,near the Rent Office, and yes there was a clock there..... I can only think the Bus had broken down and was Parked there out of the way for convenience,,,and the Driver or conductor had gone upstairs for a fag....just out of interest there was a Marsdens on that parade of shops,,,Manager Albert Drayton,,i worked the odd day there early 60s....
