Don't know what the Mam did HG,the Dad was a builder,Derik was a Biker who worked at Hooleys on Derby rd,think Pete was an early 'bouncer' big chap always chased me off his sisters,Christine was a 'comptometer' operator at either Bairnswear or Meridian.Both girls went to 'Blenheim school' in bulwell. I did manage the odd date with Christine (we were both 15) and she always bought her sister,..lol.

Probably different family but i knew some 'Bradshaws' who moved from Bulwell to Bestwood est in 1959,there was Grandad,Mam and Dad,two sons Derik and Pete,and younger Daughters Christine and Kathryn,..........fell in love with Christine (unrequented) first girl i bought a record for 'little Christine' 1960...lol.

  12. MY Grandad,Annesley wheeltapper and Shunter 1930s to 1965,also Secretary of NUR Bulwell,..........still got his plaque,presented in 1965. MY Dad,shunter Bulwell Common and Annesley,plus Goods Guard,..40s to 60s.

And opposite there was Alfreton rd Foodstore,and many years ago i got friendly with the owner,and when i was canvassing for AB Gibsons in the Nottingham area,he was my ist port of call for a packet of 'Fags' and coffee in the back with a group of shall we say 'Ladies of the night' who used to buy their items of the trade there...........they always entertained me witth Tales of tthe night before...lol.

Had a lovely conversation in Bulwell this morning with a D day veteran,all started with a casual comment as we passed in the Car park behind Argos,turned out he'd been over to France for the recent celebrations,he regailed me with some of his experience's of the event,as he talked i began to think i know this bloke,cut a long story short i did 40 years ago,he was a salesman for 'Cussons' and used to sell their products to Farrands,AB Gibsons and the Coop at the times i was employed there,...............His name was Aubrey and he was 91 years old and sharp as a button,.......as he drove off he

ME and a mate managed to get in the Delphi' to see an X film when we were about 14,they took our money and after being seated about 10 mins,the Coppers came in and escorted us out,we were searched in the 'Foyer' and my mate was found to be carrying a 'Pen knife',he was relieved of it and we left. We then got on the 17 Bus outside,went upstairs and pretended to smoke with our artificial fags,the conducter kicked us off the bus at Piccadilly,we wanted to get to Marble Arch (sounds like we were in London don't it) as we walked the rest of the way home i saw a Girl i always had a fa

  20. Had a Scooter for short time (somebody nicked it,last seen in Chapel st leonards) also had Motor bike for even shorter time,me Mam made my Uncle take it and carry on the payments. lol.

This thread reminded me of about 8 yrs ago when we had a Security business,we were hired to look after some former Army Officer residence in The Park,after it had been converted into luxury apartments,i think it was on either South or Park rd,so it looks as if the 'Park' had quite a History with the Military.
