Think this was their 1st big hit in 1963......i recall driving a Farrands/Marsdens van down to Peterborough to re-vamp a Counter Service Farrands into Self-service... and singing to this with Syd..Pete...and Mick.....my old workmates........ Stopped in Peterborough for a week (little did i know i;d live down there for a time in the 70s).......... Had all them Beatles style clothes back then...including the 'Cuban Heels'' Struggled to find a decent place to dance at night......it was in the days before they had thousands of immigrants...and the Peterborians wernt used to outsider
  2. Here's a good oldie.......remember Johnnie Ray ?.......one of my Grandma's was in his fan club in the 50s........... It was a magic time when we walked ''Our baby back home''....Bulwell to Basford after a night in the 'Adelphi' Picture house......aged 16 ish..no car we walked everywhere......even Bestwood estate to Bestwood Village over ''Meadow and farm''......all built on now.........then there was Jill from Coalville 1964...walked her home from Whitwick (next village) after watching ''Robin and the 7 hoods''......Nottstalgia will never die.......

  9. Morning in Bulwell..........1st time in about 3 weeks......was nice to seeit so busy...almost like the 60s.......went in a couple of Charity shops with lots of ...ey-ups where yo bin? Chap playing Saxaphone was excellent...had a little ''Jig''' with a lady id never seen before...it made her laugh anyway.........Finally treated the Wife to a nice 'Breakfast'' in my favourite 'Eatery''....a lot more 'Ey-Ups''' Love Bulwell.......

  14. Carnforth station still is a station......but its also a vistors centre for ''Brief Encounter''.......with lots of original features..from 1945.....including the clock shown here..........
  15. Just watching ''Brief Encounter'''1945 with Celia Johnson.and..Trevor Howard....and just spotted Ireni Handl playing a ''Cello'' in an unspeaking part....real old classic this.... Many years ago had an encounter with a Celia...but it wasn't Brief....
  16. TOO many for visiting us at one time....so visits have been staggered.... Xmas Eve... Son and Lady with Baby...Charley-Rose..From the south. Daughter with 3 Grandkids... Xmas Day...... Son with his Lincoln Lady Boxing Day... Brother and wife......From Skeggy Tomorrow...... Another son with Grandaughter....... Do'nt know when the rest are coming...lol Love em all.......lots of laughter and Presents.......now got about 20 deodorants and Aftershaves.....and too many socks to count......
  17. Brown sugars we sold at Marsdens only in the Posher places.....in the 60s. Demerara....Soft Brown...Light Brown...Dark Brown...even Muscovado..... 60s you were either Beatles or Stones Fan........i was very working class 'Beatles'......but as years rolled by.........i started to appreciate the ''Stones'' Which i still do.......
  18. The Ventures made some good stuff back in the 60s......they are still going but all the original members are no longer with us....... Walk don't run'' was one of my favourites about 62 i think.........
