  2. My project in the Garden for the last year...has been trying to save a dying Rose............. This particular Rose was planted a good few years since.........by my Late father in law in his small garden in Peterborough.........It was planted in memory of one of his daughters(my wifes sister) who died in a car accident... Her mother also passed a year ago.......and when their house went on the Market we decided to try and save this Rose........dug it up and brought it to our present home........ Planted it with loving care......but earlier this year it

Never took a girlfriend to the Palais or Locarno........always went with the intension of dancing with someone NEW and getting a date..........usually went with a mate.....but sometimes even by mesen...........last time i was 40 and recently divorced....long story but got kicked out that night......i was innocent Honest..... I Was getting to my feet at the bottom of the steps when the lady i'd been dancing with helped me up......and we went for a drink to the Nelson'' up Hockley......finished up having a lovely night.........another night to remember........wonder if i'm still '

  8. Oh yes my old boss at Farrands/Marsdens also lived on Woodthorpe drive..Ken Barrand....... In that bad winter of 63........i had the use of a Farrands 15cwt van.all logoed up and...not to be used privately......... Anyway one night when it was snowing heavy...about 10pm after i'd dropped Trina off........i got into a skid top of Woodthorpe........and passed Ken's house side-ways......lol Edit both lived Pete and Ken in the middle of Woodthorpe drive..

  10. Come that Winter i was mostly working Derby and Chesterfield no Thursday half days and always late back home...........so we just drifted apart...........anyway i was seeing Diane off Teviot road............lol

Anyway not long after Mavis had reunited with ''Big Ron'' i was back down the 'Locarno' on Tuesday ''Teenbeat nights'' Looking for a bit of a 'dance' and 'Romance'...Was working for Marsdens now and at 16 in the summer of 61' earning a bit more money.....after paying my Mam £3 board still had just over £2 for mesen.......the world was indeed my 'Oyster' I was with my mate Keith (Columbo) scanning the ladies on the dance floor.....when i spotted this lovely dark haired girl who could really move.....she was dancing with a blonde girl.......both were wearing flat shoes

  15. Me and Mavis didn't last long.......think she really loved 'Big Ron'' cos she went back to him and eventually married him.... But never mind......met Molly soon after ..again at the 'Locarno'' on a Tuesday night ''Teenbeat.''........She was quite a girl from the Meadows...but won't bore you any more...unless by request........

  17. Took Mavis to Gaumont......started with 13/10.... 2x 4p ones on 17 bus to town....Mavis lived on Heathfield estate... Money now 13/2....... Back row upstairs 3/6 each...left with 6/2 Popcorn for Mavis Sucker for me...........cash now 4/2 Film 'Expresso Bongo'' not bad not great...but must get a shirt like 'Cliff's' when he was 'Tom-Tomming on the Bongo's...... Both underage but got served in 'Peach Tree'' 2 halves of Mild 1/6...quite nice in little room Forman street side...Radio Luxemburg crackling away...... Mavis said....who's that bloke at the Bar? t
