Got to kiss ALL the girls,,another kissing game/Dance ''Black-out Arches'' Kisses galore in that....lol Fancied lots of girls at school ad the two games mentioned were good ways of getting a kiss, sometimes led to a Snog,,,always fancied a girl named Rosie with long blond hair,,,,anyway she was a good Kisser....and i thought i'd cracked her for a date,,but no,she still turned me down,,,Still see her now and again in Bulwell,,,think she'd still turn me down...lol..
  15. Always loved Dancing.......My Aunts always got me Dancing with them at Grandparents whilst they played their 50s records on the Radiogram........Then at school soon found out you were popular...when you went to friday lunchtime dance club.... Into my teen years it was Locarno 14-16 year olds tuesday nights at 1/6,,,Danced with girls from all over Nottingham,,used to go with a gang of us from Old Bestwood.....None of us were shy of asking for a dance as we got on the floor tripping over Handbags.. Getting in the Mens powder room was an experience as well,,,admiring us selves in the full length mirrors,,Italian suit,,collar turned up and hair combed like Billy(the one and only) Fury,,,splash of Old Spice and a shoe shine from the old fella,,gave him a 'Tanner' ,,remember him?.........If you got a date with a nice girl we'd take em to the Bodega on a sunday night for some great slow Dancing,,,or if no date,, still the Bodega,, to find one......Working for Marsdens it was never difficult getting dates,,,especially if you travelled round em all...........For the next many years i travelled the country working and Dancing from Birmingham to Bradford and beyond....the only time i get a Dance now is on my Spanish holidays,,,when i love to dance the night away.....when this Covid disappears so will i...........Viva Espana''' Edit need another thread Cliff Ton....Dancing years''.....lol

Yes Jill they did,,,AB.Gibson held the VG Franchise for most of the Midlands,,South.Yorkshire and East Anglia...with depots in Daybrook,,Peterborough and Moxley in the West Midlands....loved my 11 years with them,,,met and worked with so many great characters..with so many funny stories to tell....
  20. VG began its days i believe in Holland....and somewhere in translation VG in Dutch meant working together ie Wholesaler/retailer Vay,vee,,Jee,,Gee or sumat like it,,,they had their main Office on Sackville street in London...enjoyed my time with them,,,at their Peak they had over 2,000 stores in the UK,,the largest Voluntary group was Spar,,over 5,000 in the UK...The other main Voluntary group stores were Mace,,Alliance,,Vivo,,Wavy Line,,APT and Centro...thought you might want to know that... All stores were privately owned,,and it was a fierce battle trying to win over the opposition,,,but great days and nights,, My training at Marsdens in 'Grocery Retail' stood me in good stead for my role at VG...with A.B.Gibsons of Daybrook...
