  1. I was a bit too young to be a real ''Teddy Boy''....but always mixed with the original 'Teds' on Bestwood estate........think they've all passed now.....proper characters..........Lennie...Barry...Ronnie...Jimmy.....Pete...Len...Ray...Col....and many more..........Anyone who frequented the 'Heathfield' and 'Park Tavern''old Basford back in the 60s and 70s will know who i;m talking about........

My self was never a Ted (too young)..or a 'Mod' or even a 'Rocker''....but nicked a bit of all their styles..........still do......:)

  2. Do you watch Rumpole of the Bailey Jill'?   he quotes Shakespeare all the time'''

Didn't do much in the way of 'Shakespeare'' at Padstow school......but i do remember our Drama Teacher....who was always reading the works of him''''

He was on the school stage giving the old 'Bard;'' plenty...

When he fell from the Stage bounced off the ;Piano'' on to the floor whilst breaking Wind......so funny.. my class of about 35 didnt stop laughing about it for weeks....

  3. Forced mesen out this morning...sunny but very cold....needed one or two bits...........so went into Bulwell for a change........

Whilst i was only in Tesco probably 15 minutes i saw 3 seperat males ''Shoplifting'''''''''''

Then whilst getting in my car in their car park...parked only 2 feet in front of me....witnessed a Drug deal.....two cars side by side one passing a small bag to the other......then receiving some notes in return....they   like the shoplifters seemed completely unperurbed by my close presence.........

Sign of the times i suppose......they must have been visitors to Bulwell:)

  4. The future doesnt look bright i m afraid..............I worry about it for the sake of my children and Grandchildren and of course other peoples.........through-out my life the world has never been perfect...but even with-out any 'Rose tinted glasses'' it was better than today...........i'm sure there have never been so many 'Wars''.........

And as for having a second Personality....reckon we all need one...to escape all the wrongs in the world...

''' Laugh and the world laughs with you.........weep and you weep alone'''

. I remember that after three years of paying a mortgage where the payments increased every month I think all we actually owned was the front door knocker. There was serious talk of a General strike in 1974 and groups were set up to man essential services and GB75 was designed to break the grip of the pickets.

Constant Terrorist Threats - In November 1974 in the days after we went to Birmingham Rotunda for our final interview to come to Australia two pubs were bombed. The Mulberry Bush and the Talk of the Town, killing 21

Slight differences to todays problems OZ.....But only slight..........even though one of my sons is now an Aussie......ive never fancied the country....don't like the accent...the heat...and when i see shots of it on TV......It looks as crowded as England (i know its not).......

If was a lot younger i would definitely leave our not so ''Green and pleasant Land''.........with Spain being my favourite destination..

Mind you i still fancy ''KYLIE''......

  6. Got a thing about ''Shirts'' Phil.......in fact about mens clothing in general always have had............

Ive never been a ''Dedicated follower of fashion''......if i like something i buy it..

                       Don't like the way a lot of men dress......sloppy T shirts...Shorts with ugly legs...Sandals...T-shirt with a suit....shirts with top 3 buttons open...dirty shoes...i could go on.......its just the way i am...to each his own hey?.......even Beards..thats another subject.......

  9. Didn't realise this great song was Banned about 4 years ago..........When it was in the charts about 50 years ago i recall listening to it on a ''Juke Box'' in ''Alum Rock'  Birmingham in a little cafe full of Black and Asian blokes....and no-one batted an ''Eye-lid''...........even a couple of Chinese chaps when they heard

''Curly black and Kinky mixed with Yellow Chinky''

How this country's attitude has changed from those far off days....

  10. The last few weeks of foul weather as prohibited me from venturing out on me bike....

However that clear blue sky this morning tempted into a quick spurt....but for only a mile or so........but it was hard work due to the cold and the effect it has on my condition.......anyway i managed what i set out to do...and now feel so much better for it........roll on Spring.........
