  1. Happy birthday Margie!
  2. Enjoying my last few weeks as a lady of leisure before I start my new job at the end of the month!
  3. I've really gone off frozen chips and as such make them scratch now unless I'm being really lazy then I'll buy some ready to cook ones from the Lidl fridge/chilled section which are pretty good! Have fish, homemade chips and mushy peas scheduled in for a dinner this week. Already looking forward to it!
  4. I can agree with you there Mary. The Cosy Club is lovely! I'm off to meet some of my ex work colleague (now friends) this afternoon at Pizza Pilgrims - not been before so looking forward to it!
  5. I absolutely love Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds so I've shared it here as everyone should listen to it at least once. A master piece.
  6. Another day of redundancy and back on the job search. Really not enjoying this lack of routine!
  7. My favourite by Dire Straits. Absolutely amazing! https://youtu.be/jhdFe3evXpk?si=R7dELrefqVi4i3pB
  8. I am officially redundant at the moment. First time for me and not a pleasant experience at all. Its weird being a lady of leisure! Not sure what to do with myself!
  9. The pub is now called the Fox and Grapes. I still frequent it as its down the road from work!
  10. These are beautiful Beekay! Do you ever sell your paintings/painted items?
  11. What is the Blue Bell pub now as I don't think there's a pub by that name there anymore?
  12. I work on Alfred Street South at the moment and can assure you that it's got nothing like that now!
  13. So many people think 'it's only me I can't make a difference', however, hundreds of thousands of people are probably thinking the same thing. Imagine if they did all make some small changes the difference that could be made!
  14. It is a beautiful house though! Don't think it's quite in our budget mind!
  15. One of my all time favourites! https://youtu.be/dx7vNdAb5e4?si=_I-jh9XJWhq9htuB
  16. Get well soon Nonna. Sending best wishes!
  17. As soon as I left home my knowledge of the soaps went downhill. My Mum used to watch them all! Since moving out me and my partner barely have the TV on. We prefer conversation and music as opposed to the TV
  18. First time hearing of Roger Whittaker I'm afraid to say but thoroughly enjoyed listening to the above and have added them to my playlist. Thank you for sharing!
  19. Absolutely Jill. Forever grateful that my Mum was switched on to what a strange man he truly was. I think it seems more rife today as more people speak out on it whereas back in the day it was very hush hush! In some ways times have changed for the better but not many!
  20. We had a teacher whilst I was in primary who took over our class when our head teacher went on maternity leave and our usual teacher had to step in as head teacher. He told us stories about his large house with farm animals and advise whichever team won the points challenge at the end of term would have the prize of going to his house. As 9/10 year olds we were so excited at the idea and I couldn't wait to tell my Mum. Needless to say my enthusiasm wasn't met and she was horrified and told me there wasn't a chance in hell. She reported this to the school and mentioned other untowa
  21. My Aunt and Uncle lived in Denman Gardens. I believe Wolsey Avenue is now in it's place (where my sister used to live) the family have stayed very local to Radford.
  22. @Beekay- my Mum lived at 15 Grant Street. She's recently retired (66 now) but my Aunt is 12 years older than my Mum so she's more likely to remember the pubs! They were a big family (7 children) so I'm sure you probably passed a fair few of them! I'll ask re. The Denman Inn!
  23. My Aunt and Mum lived on Grant Street and they remembered the pub and couldn't find any images online! Thank you so much!
