  1. Has anyone any memories of the Park Estate my dad. converted no 5Cavendish Cresent South into flats it was formerly the headquarters of the British Soviet Friendship Society, It was almost derelict when he started the job it had a coach house on Lenton Road, large gardens a huge kitchen with wine cellar and many rooms it was three stories high and the brickwork had a three inch cavity which was very unusual for such an old proprerty ,I wondered if any Nottstalgia members knows any former history.

  2. Thanks gentleman, you have confirmed my memory ! Never thought of looking for it on street view ! The Hovis sign is the clincher, where the driveway is now there used to be a lean to wooden structure , amazing man when you think he did all his own baking then did the sales round too, must have baked in the early hours as his bread when he delivered was just so good and oven fresh.

Do remember the Windale shop as we'll,.

Another one but a bit further towards the city on wood borough road was Russell's bakery and cake shop, I went to school with Geoff Russell the son, lovely bloke, he lived up near Mapperly golf course in a big detached house, very nice people.

And Stu, will be giving the "Bread and Bitter" a whirl in about 4 weeks time, can't wait.

Russels had a shop in Netherfield as well my aunt worked there for years, Mr Russell used to drink in the Brooklyn club on main road Gedling near the end of westdale lane
  3. we dont really want bullets flying everywhere like some countries but times change ,perhaps a limited number of highly trained mobile armed police in every town . The problem is in most smaller towns there is no police presence anyway!

  4. a raleigh three wheeler was featured in the spin off tv programme the first of the summer wine, it was owned by Niei Crookes ex brisca stockcar racer

Brough did build motorbikes but I'm fairly sure that Morgan made a 3 wheeler with a Brough motor, I know they mainly used a JAP twin but somewhere in the memory I'm sure I've seen a Morgan 3 wheeler with the Brough twin as powerplant.

If I'm wrong it may have been a hybrid, but seems unlikely, cannot find much on google either.

Morgan 3 wheelers had JAP ohv and sidevalve engines plus matchless ohv and sidevalves also british anzani where used
