  1. It used to be that if you were wearing something that looked good on you you looked great ,smart ,pretty,well dressed...........now you are said to be rocking an outfit.....am I losing the plot?
  2. I sometimes have dreams that come true,I never used to tell anyone about them as some were not pleasant. I now make a point of telling my daughter and also write them in my dream book. As for recurring dreams ,I dream that I am a young girl in past times in a very dark cobbled street I am wearing rags and have no shoes on,it is always raining.,people walk past but ignore me.
  3. As a kid I used to see something at the far end of the cricket field ,near Conway road Carlton,was it a so called nodding donkey ?can anyone else remember it.

MASHED POTATO SURPRISE Make some mashed potatoes(how much depends on how many portions you need) Pack of frozen mixed veg (let it defrost first) Grated cheese Salt and pepper to taste Bacon lardons or chopped streaky bacon,fried till crispy. Mix all together except the cheese. Put mixture in a greased dish and cover with grated cheese.Place in a hot oven until bubbling and hot.Serve on its own or with salad. Can be frozen. nice with some pickle or sauce.
  5. My daughter and I have decided not to buy each other presents this year,we will have some prosseco and decent food (no turkey,we both don't like it) and just do what we want to do.

  7. benjamin1945 Some things that might reduce eye bags Drink plenty of water,every day Put chilled cucumber slices over closed eyes Chill 2 big spoons in the fridge,then place them on the eye bags for about ten minutes. Some celebrities use hemmoroid cream under the eyes (yuk)
  8. People(usually teens) who sit on the bus and put their bag on the seat next to them,when people ,sometimes not too good on their feet,are left standing up on a packed bus.

Our family used to live at 114 Carlton hill,before that it was called main street,it was a row of four big old houses that stood back from the road up some steps.The houses have since been pulled down and replaced by flats.I have tried in vain to get a photo of these old houses.There were fields at the back,Carlton central school was built on there years later.
  10. Not many homes have a gun cabinet now.I have one that's been made into a bookcase,never had guns in it myself.Bought it from Scotland,it's beautiful wood.
  11. Can you remember any ?heres one to start you off. Shut up the shutters and sit in the shop. Try saying it quickly over and over again.
  12. I was a sort of hippy sometimes,sometimes mod.It depended on what I fancied from C and A .My mini skirts were so short I dare not bend down.Can anyone remember the fashion of a very short dress with matching bloomer type pants?I got one from C and A.Mam said it was disgusting.
  13. Window cleaners using ladders,they all seem to use those long reach things attached to hoses.
  14. Well,where do I start?Our doctors surgery shut down in June,the doctor has resigned..we liked him ,always had time to listen and would phone you at home if need be. For eight weeks I have been hobbling around with a very painful hip.In desperation I went to the local clinic(after waiting 3weeks to get an appointment)I was in there less than 5 mins came out with a prescription for 2 different drugs.Had a really bad reaction and was in bed 3 days.The leaflet with both says 'may make fractures of wrists hips and spine more likely!!!! I had all but 2 of the side effects. . But how do yo
  15. I am scared of moths,wasps,and people who dress up as clowns or jesters,or dress up as anything else really,I like to see who is inside the costume.I hate it if I go to town shopping and someone is dressed in costume collecting for charity or to advertise something...I do a detour.

I can remember my auntie taking me to the fair when I was a kid,there used to be a stall where you bought a ticket,and a model of a peacock(I think)spun round ,if it landed on your ticket number you won .It had really good prizes,auntie always seemed to be winning.Later on I went with my boyfriend and won a basket full of pots,which I gave to my mam....Can anyone remember this stall ? Wish I had a photo.

  18. I wish I hadn't decided to get rid of my old fridge freezer,but I did and got a posh American style one...it was purchased last April and has been a nightmare.So it is being collected next week and they say I will get a full refund.
  19. I love the smell of babies(not the nappies though) The smell of leather,maybe that's why I first fancied my late husband,I wanted to sniff his jacket.
  20. I am not great at knitting,at present I am trying to knit a cardigan,it's taking forever. My late husband showed me how to knit ,he learned from his mother who knitted loads. When we had been married a short while I knitted a jumper for my husband,it was terrible and was miles too big.He wore it anyway ,but only at home.

  23. Jill # 58 I used to work as a carer for the elderly nuns at the convent when part of it became a care home. They still dressed in nuns clothing even though they were in a care home.They seemed to think they were above the other elderly people who were not nuns,the non nuns were frightened of the nuns.,the carers were also scared of the nuns,I remember one poor Chinese girl who was told off for not saying grace at meal time(even though she was not eating but helping them with their needs)Some of the nuns could be quite racist too.The nuns seemed to get better treatment than non nuns
