  1. My first car was a Daf,orrible little thing,I had to put bricks under it to stop it escaping down the drive,that was in the 70s.i don't think I have seen any that have survived. When out shopping the other day I saw a woman park a Dormobile,it was lovely,looked like she had just been on holiday in it,not sure when Dormobiles first came out,but haven't seen one for years.

  4. Anyone know how to get rid of a pampas ?its taking over the front lawn,I can't burn it ,it's too near the road,tried cutting some of it down but got cut to smithereens.

Does anyone remember aqua manda perfume ?it smelled lovely.i used to buy Mary quant Starkers foundation,and in woolies you could get a spray on bleach for your hair,can't remember what it was called though.,and waltz italiana nail varnish ,there were so many colours.,I used to get a pale blue one and it stayed on for ages.
  7. it sounds like the children's hospital to me,I think it was on chestnut grove,I had my tonsils and adenoids out,had to be taken back in after a fortnight as I was bleeding from my throat after eating an apple.i remember hiding porridge under the pillow on the day I was going home,I hated the stuff ,I was about 8 it was torture ,the nurse on night duty was terrible,wouldn't let you go to the toilet,then yelled when you pissed the bed.
  8. I did not live in st annes but I had a friend who did her name was Christine manners,her parents had a shop there,but I can't for the life of me remember which street,does anyone remember the shop ?

  14. I remember a herbalist called henchers in Nottingham,I thought he was a very clever bloke,you could go in and tell him your ailment and he would mix something up for you .i used to buy a shampoo from him and I have never had one as good since.the shop was on Handel street.
  15. Compo,this reminds me of a few years ago at cleethorps,my late husband and me were on the beach when this fog came down,well my hubby started walking towards the sea completely disorientated ,good job I knew the way off the beach.
  16. Compo,I love jukeboxes,I used to have four,but sold one,still have three.,not many modern music players will still be working after 50 odd years.I don't have mice in mine but one was full of wood lice,I had to vacuum them out.
  17. Yes I think they sometimes work out the collection days and get there before the charities.
  18. When I was a kid I remember my grandad used to scrub any cuts or bites with salt and water. Ouch! but it seemed to work .he also had a remedy for mouth ulcers,Epsom salts.,which I was treated with a few times,ooo the pain ,but it soon shrivelled them up. My granny used to rub butter on kids heads for bruises (she called them duck eggs) can't remember if that worked though .

  20. I used to buy 45s records,can't remember the blokes name,when I asked for a record he would reply with a title of another record,reckon he fancied me.
