  1. I loved the pet stall,I remember you could buy a kind of dry shampoo for cats,it made my cat smell like French perfume.
  2. I once left some stuff out for charity and caught a bloke going through the bags,I asked him what he was doing,he said I sort rubbish ,I told him it was not for him but for charity,luckily the charity people then turned up in a van and the bloke quickly walked off.

  5. Went on holiday to carrickfergus in northern Ireland ,lovely place wouldn't mind living there
  6. Met Micky Finn of t -Rex and shook hands with him. Saw terence Trent d'arby in Nottingham,he has the best voice in the world
  7. I remember miss nevin used to take us for dancing,the amazing thing was she used to dance around with her eyes closed,but if you were getting the steps wrong she would correct you,it was like she could see with her eyes closed.
  8. It was off derby rd,behind st barnabus cathedral.its now been turned into apartments,bet it's haunted.
  9. not really a company as such but they did have workers there i worked there as a carer,looking after nuns,and other elderly people.it was very well run ,but strict.it was a convent and also a care home.

  12. My husband worked at spray and burgass for years,I think they changed the name a few times over the years,colwick dyers ?basford dyers ? Maybe you knew him ?

Can anyone remember pullfreys in Carlton ?i worked there for a few years as did my aunt,when I had my kids I did outdoor work for them,they made all sorts,girdles,blouses,and some strange items called soxy boots that you wore over your shoes to look like boots.the factory is now derelict I think .
  14. After I worked on the sewing machines at glovers,I decided I wanted to work on the knitting machines. They were not electric and you had to work the carriage back and forth (you had to stand up )you had to work like merry hell as you got paid per garment knitted. We were all very slim,no wonder.no one would want to do it now.

  17. Does any one remember Thomas glover on chesterfield st Carlton ?they had two factories one on each side of the street,they made things like jock straps and surgical ankle supports.my first job was there,I hated it,but it was near home and saved on bus fares I got £3 per week .

  20. My dad also worked at Raleigh ,in the tool making dept,he took me to see his workplace when I was a kid,I remember the overpowering greasy smell.he also told me about the time when they filmed Saturday night and Sunday morning.

  23. I used to go there with my granny,we got the trolley bus from and to Carlton,but sometimes we had to walk if she spent our bus fare at the market.
