In the late 60s/ early 70s I remember a little shop called 'things to love' They sold hippy type clothes and collectables such as old toys I used to find it fascinating I thought it was up a little street at the side of the theatre royal,but either the street has dissapeared or the shop was somewhere else. Can anyone remember it?
  2. When I was a kid ,there was a woman on our street who seemed to be always sitting in her front window using her sewing machine..she used to make all sorts for the neighbours,curtains,clothes,you don't see that now,well not where I live.
  3. Had a problem with the Internet yesterday ,phoned virgin,it was press 1 for this 2 for that and so on.Then was told they had checked and there wasn't a fault? So phoned again and was put through to someone , I couldn't understand a word they were saying ,so I handed the phone to my daughter as I thought it must be my hearing ....but she struggled to understand them,there was also a lot of background noise like a crowd cheering.

  6. Got to get you into my life...Cliff Bennett and the rebel rousers Reminds me of the first time I went to the sherwood rooms, The group were playing there. I was having a great time until...my older sister spotted me,she had gone there with her boyfriend . I knew I was in for it cos when we got home she told mam. ( I was under age to be in such a place snogging lads) I couldn't weedle my way out of that one.

  9. Beef dripping is nice as well,if you get a decent joint of beef. I think my granny used to cook chips in dripping.
  10. Tunnicliffe,my mothers maden name. She has a brother Fred , sisters ivy, olive Eva ,jean , but I never heard a Steven mentioned..maybe related, maybe not,but it's not a common surname.
  11. Derbac soap,was it for nits? I remember being told it was soap for tramps.
  12. Not sure if I posted this before,In the 70s you could buy an eyeliner that you applied with a brush,it looked a bit shiny like patent leather.When you wanted to remove it you could just peel it off.Me and my friends thought it was great.

  14. Things you don't see any more.....Twink and Pin up,for ladies who wanted curly hair. I used to have to do my mams....you had to apply the lotion,wrap small sections of hair around peg like culers( you don't see them anymore either) then after about half hour ( I think) you than had to apply another lotion,can't remember what that was for,maybe a conditioner.,then rinse it all off ,take the curlers out and then put the hair in normal rollers. We had a lovely doctor from Zimbabwe ,you could talk to him about anything and felt he had time to listen.When my late husband was really poorly the doctor would come to see how he was,we didn't even have to ask him to call. Unfortunately the surgery was closed down because another doctor there was not really a doctor but was calling herself dr. So our doc resigned.We now have to use a clinic,it's just not the same and almost impossible to get an appointment .

In the 80s,I was woken by a deep humming sound,it was in the early hours..I looked out of my bedroom window and saw an object with lights all round,the object was a sort of oval shape and was hovering just above the trees( there is woodland at the back of our house) I woke my husband to let him see,he thought it must be something the army were trying out,but it looked so strange...then it just sort of floated up and went.

  21. I have a knitting machine had it for years,but you don't see them in such as John Lewis anymore,I think maybe they have stopped making them. I remember in the 70s and 80 s seeing people queuing at a market stall in vic centre to buy wool for knitting machines.
  22. Blackamoors stout,it was lovely,came in a little bottle with an Indian man on the front. Did they have their own brewery?
  23. Nibbits can anyone remember them? The texture was a little bit like quavers,but harder and. In thin ribbon like strips,lovely.
