  1. Apart from the attacks of tinnitus, which, fortunately are not too often, the brain brushes the usual noise away unless I think about it. A researcher was quite intrigued when I said that I often listen to the tinnitus just like listening to music. A range of notes, intensity and timing. It's like celestial music and I often get lost in it. Can be quite pleasant sometimes. Pity that I am not a composer or I could write something quite original.
  2. As many of you know, I am completely deaf. I get by with a cochlear implant that was fitted 26 years ago when I was 57. The device has been upgraded a few times but I still rely on lip reading to a certain extent in most situations. Tinnitus is always present but I get attacks of severe tinnitus ( imagine a helicopter landing on your head) that last for an hour or so. This is on the implant side and cannot be explained. I have helped, as a subject, with studies carried out by Nottm Uni. It is surprising how little is understood about tinnitus.
  3. Thanks CT - I'll make a dozen this w/e. What ingredient would give them a Nottingham flavour? If there is not a Nottingham Pickled egg I will create one - could be my legacy
  4. Is there such a thing as a Nottingham pickled egg? A pickled egg in a bag of crisps used to be mandatary with our darts team. Essential component in the team training diet. I have a lot of eggs and cider vinegar - I hope that the Nottingham pickled egg is based on cider vinegar. Any pickled egg experts on here?
  5. Mrs PP negative today I'm still positive but feeling good and did a gentle 30' in the gym before breakfast - so returning to the usual routine. Booked a boat on Carsington for Sunday - forecast looks good and dying to get out. Been counting my flies all week and have 1,000,016 - I must have lost one! If I test positive again tomorrow I will have a recount
  6. We are still testing positive and not been anywhere for a week. Feeling a lot better and sleeping well though
  7. Just about manage 20 minutes on the indoor bike now. In my 60's I covered over 260 miles in 12hours several times. Some difference I did manage 16 miles on my 83rd birthday though - it was the lycra that did it for me
  8. Moderna. Previous 3 were Phizer.
  9. Thanks all for the kind remarks. Feel much better today - just like a normal cold. Mrs PP is ok too Arose at 10.30. Shower, porridge, ready
  10. As mentioned before - we had our 4th jab on Wednesday having tested negative that morning. We had an awful time that night and it almost came to phoning the paramedics when I had a burning chest, arms and head and could not breathe. Then we were both shaking with cold sweats. Last night was almost as bad and coughing kept us awake. We both felt poorly again this morning so we took another test - guess what?....positive! I don't know what the incubation period is but neither of us has seen anyone other than the masked jab team since Monday. I've had difficulty typing this due to blurred v
  11. Must confess RR, I've taken your postings re covid with a pinch of salt in the past - but as you say, it does make you wonder. Could not get out of bed until 2.30 today - just had my porridge and hope it gives me some energy.
  12. Mrs PP and myself had our 4th jab this morning. We are now both shivering and got headaches. Also aches in joints, very bruised arm and no energy. We had the Moderna jab. Neither of us have had after effects before? We tested negative and felt ok before going for the jab?... and I thought others that moaned about after effects were being mardy
  13. I must stop treading on the dogs balls. Went flying again this morning
  14. Our daughter has signed up for the refugee housing initiative. Be interesting to see how it progresses. Hope she is successful, which will give us a chance to help out.
  15. We have stayed at Port Merion several times and the 'Prisoner' is still a big thing. They have a festival to celebrate it every year and many 'Prisoner' fans dress up for the occasion - lots of striped blazers.
  16. Happy birthday Margie Love from Mr & Mrs PP xx
  17. Watching you two arguing the different aspects makes more sense that the TV pundits and politicians opinions
  18. Lovely morning I'll be leading a working party on a local river this morning. I won't be 'getting stuck in' as I used to do. The most energetic thing I will do is to shout instructions. Right - must load tools in car. Oh! where's that whip?
  19. Just as I remember it C1950. Walked down Alfreton Rd towards Berridge School.
  20. The exhibition is called the BFFI - British Fly Fair International. Had a great first day and enjoyed it.
  21. Interesting day today setting up my exhibition stall at the County Showground. Sat and Sun - all about fly fishing. I should really be too old for this sort of thing but I have always enjoyed exhibition work. The exciting thing is that the unexpected always happens and some interesting people are met. Life is good.
  22. I worry about Boris being let loose on the Ukraine crisis? What is he hoping to achieve with the £88m and weapons training, while the Germans, French etc. being a little more patient and diplomatic? Is it a vainglorious attempt to regain respect at home and to be seen as a leader? Cosying up to the yanks? Deja vu? He can't face a crisis at home so off he goes to meddle somewhere else!
  23. Bekay is right about Jacky Pownalls. I took scrap in there regularly. My Aunt Min's green grocery shop was just up from Pownalls on the same side. On the opposite side, on the end of Peveril St was Jack Hensons - also a basin cut barber who used hand clippers (ouch). I hated going there as a boy. Cost 3pence in my day.
