  1. Yes carni I can remember just about. My thought was near the church where the old horse trough is. Or as you say around the old post office. I'll park up and have a meander.
  2. Went to Gedling today carni but didn't go into the village, so I can't help you there. I will be going back Christmas eave so I'll have a look fore It.

  5. I worked on Plumtre Street in men's tailoring, the place was called Levies. I had some good times and fond memories of my time there leaving in 1969 to have my first baby.

  9. I recall the whip and top, how old am I, don't answer that. I was rubbish at it anyway. one toy I did have when I was very young about four was a drum. I loved that drum. While playing out the front one day with said drum a woman past with a little boy, snatched it of me said that's my boys and walked off. ( scared me for life ) The hoola hoop was a craze with us girls when we were older we could keep them going for ages. Toilet roll holders Blondie, no newspaper on a nail fore you then.
  10. Its amazing to think someone can put their money in a safe place and then forget its there. Mined you its not so amazing I'm always doing it but not with money.

  13. I always shop in Nottingham at Christmas. My Grandson and I make a night of it, we are like big kids when we see the lights. first it's the Christmas market, then the shops, finely we go for something nice to eat. George's is opening in at the end of this month so it might be a big plate of fish and chips.
  14. I can recall going to the children's hospital twice, the first while playing with my best friends sister I fell (or was I pushed ?) and gashed my left knee. My partner in crime ran off screaming, I thought she had left me but she returned with her Dad who delivered me to the hospital. When I saw the Doctor he told me all about the Birkin family wealthy lace manufactures who had given the building for the hospital, funny what you remember.   18. Bonfire night was a big thing for us kids in the 50s. It was all about the fire and who had the biggest. You had to keep a watch or the big lads would come and raid your stack. Our mams made the food mushy peas, baked potato's, toffee apples and our Dads had the job of lighting the fireworks. I remember Carni,s Dad getting that jumping jack stuck up his trousers.
