  1. My Mothers Brother was probably in that march, she would only have been five at the time.
  2. My first memory pre school, running up the road with no shoes or socks on after my Brothers and Sister it was her first day at school and I was being left on my own. Being on my own in the front garden playing on a drum it was round my neck on string a woman and a little boy who was crying walked past, the woman came back yanked the drum from my neck saying that's my boys and walked off. There will be lots of happy memories but they are the two that always come to mind.

  4. Yes Katy and we would bump as hard as we could, until some one got mardy and the game would come to an end. Not me
  5. The wine glasses we used to get with petrol looked like a hand grenade on a stem. Gave the last two to a charity shop a few months ago.
  6. The Whitakers petrol barges finished around 1995 give or take a couple years Phil. Your friend should have had no reason to worry for his safety the crew were very safety conscious, they had jam jars full of water to drop their fag ends in.
  7. It was a privilege to be there Katyjay, chulla was a lovely man. He will be missed.
  8. Thank you for your birthday greetings, all the family coming to mine for lunch and then the grown up girls are hitting the town for Cocktails and Dinner.
  9. And a leather factory carni, remember the remnants of children's reins, pink and blue with little bells on they were a great find.
  10. They say you shouldn't cut into the old wood Margie but I have a neighbour who cuts about five foot off his every few years. They always grow back.

  13. My next door neighbour was one of the bikers Lizzie, he forgot to change his clocks so it was a mad dash for him but he made it.

  15. How sad to here of the news that our friend chulla has passed away he will be sadly missed. My sincere condolences to Linda, his Daughter Barbara and Kath. RIP Dave.
  16. I'm with you there letsavagoo, we went with family from Canada about ten years ago it was so boring I was embarrassed to have taken them.
  17. My Dad would have been working there at that time Ian.
  18. We did Ian, I always remember my Sunday Best plimsolls they were whiter than my every day ones.
  19. Nice picture CT, my mother would have been four when that was taken. It amazes me how every body even the children wore a hat and it looks like the women had some very elaborate ones.
