  1. I only remember going to Carrington Lido once we mainly went to the one at Papplewick in those days a big adventure. Yes I remember playing against the Nottingham Police in the Thursday League for Co-op Diary. The Police ground was quite well set up Best wishes Peter
  2. I was a youngster in the 50s so perhaps did not know your relatives #4 benjamin1945. We had a dog who if it got out of the house it would go into the Vicars garden and dig up all the plants - even had the look of satisfaction as he did it!!! When it snowed we would sledge down the hill at the bottom - did not matter it ended in a brick wall - you had to try to get off the sledge before you hit it Best wishes Peter
  3. Thanks for that Carni - I used to go past it when my kids were young on our visits to relatives and they used to call it the rock that fell from the moon. We used to come through Castle Donington - past the key house and I would always tell them the story of how the key ended up on the roof. Best wishes Peter
  4. We lived on St Pauls Avenue, Hyson Green in the 1950s and for about a year and a half I went to Berridge Secondary school Best wishes Peter
  5. It is so sad to hear of the loss of Terry Wogan. As a TOG I loved his radio show in the morning particularly when he did the firework displays and his banter with the crew like Fran Godfrey and deadly. RIP
  6. I was driving through Bramcote and went past the good old Hemlock Stone. As kids we used to walk to it and spend the day just enjoying it - I don't know if anyone else was the same but we were always told it "Was the rock that fell from the moon". Best wishes Peter

  10. I guess that there will always be people who wish to remember days of long past - see photos and say yes I was there and be willing to talk about it with others who are like minded. To hear from people you have not heard from or seen for donkeys years. I know I once ran into a old school friend in a chip shop when I was visiting Nottingham and he said how long is it since we met - we both thought - then realised it was when we left school and it was 52 years ago!!! I think the big trap is when you start to say things like -- "Is it me?" Best wishes Peter

  14. In the 1950s my mate Cyril who went to Manvers walked round all the time in a tracksuit but that was because he had nothing else to wear. I agree that some look good but a lot do not suit the image - as John Bishop once said - Living in Liverpool is like being in an Olympic village. I am afraid I am still a collar and tie man Best wishes Peter

  17. I remember Roy Rogers and Dale Evans - we used to call him rock head Rogers as in one episode two men hit him on the head with a massive rock and as they bent to take his guns he jumped up and strated fighting again. Even his hat wasn't dinted Best wishes Peter
  18. Annette Mills on Muffin the Mule - she died suddenly of course and her brother John Mills personally answered all the letters that were sent in.
