  2. I am a Nottingham Lass and was a stunner in my day, in fact at 70 I am still quite a dish..........

I used to attend the Playhouse Bar quite often back in the late 1960's.......They were great times.......The usher would allow us into the Green Room on a Saturday Night after the Plays had finished and we would mix with the actors........A lot of them became famous a few years later...., Wilfred Bramble, .Mark McManus, Nicola Pagett, Joanna Lumley, Charlotte Rampling and Robert Powell,.......they were always very friendly and poor, they lived in cheap digs around the Arboretum area........I once dated Robert Powell, he took me to the ABC Cinema and was so hard up I paid for us to see the film

  5. My first mini was FLW 810............then I had a mini with the reg. Lyn 737 - was great as my name is Lynn, I believe it was the Leicester number at the time, late 60's.....

We had Exeter Stew, Caramel Tart, Chocolate Sponge with Pink Sauce and many more delicious recipes..........Always biscuits to buy 2, for a penny to munch with school milk at break times............My mum thought school meals were good value, 2 courses for a 1/- a day - we were pushed out the door at 8.30am and not seen again until after 4.30pm.......she had all day to herself getting housework done, just had to cook for herself and dad (Who incidently, was faddy and awkward)..........I have good memories of school dinners....

  8. There used to be a B8 blue bus went through Hucknall from Mansfield to Nottingham - also the C9 Hucknall to westville Estate and Alfreton hourly..........oh and the Oxten bus F5 and Beauvale, Hucknall to Broad Marsh F4............memories....

  11. When it got towards summer when I was a child I wanted to wear my summer dresses.......My mother would answer, ' Don't cast a clout until May is out, and then don't cast to far .'......I had to wait until June which seemed agea away................

I'm so, so sorry for your grief..........There seems to be a lot of it around just lately......My friend Glenis rang me up yesterday, she lives near Skegness and is such a lovelly person.....Her son has been all over the internet, Facebook and the news this weekend........He died in Benidorm, he had been missing since March 28th, everyone searching for him, then he was found in the Morgue at the hospital on Saturday by the interpol and had been dead since March 31st, nobody knew who he was as there was no identification on him, he is her only child and she is devastated, her grief must be over

We were the same in Hucknall, going to the Rec, Titchfield Park or down the Brook as they say with 3d fishing nets, jam jars and wellies, catching tiddlers, minnows, bully head or a toe biter..........We were lucky though, we had a weeks holiday every year in the pit weeks either to Skeggy or Bridlington and got to the Lido and Newstead Abbey regularly...........
  20. It's the good old days when everybody had a great time starving........my gran was born in 1888 and earned 5/6d a week for a 16 hour day when she left school at 13, she was in service and they were treated like dirt..........
