  1. I have a John Deere lawn mower and in the service book they say "use oil viscosity based on the expected air temperature range during the period between oil changes" -20 degrees C to 50 degrees C use SAE 10W-40 -20 degrees C to 40 degrees C use SAE 10W-30 -22 degrees F to 86 degrees F use SAE 5W -30 Regardless of the temperature I have always used 10W-30 but I agree with banjo 10W-40 will be fine
  2. It may interest the Bus enthusiasts on this site. This man was born in 1899 and was interviewed in the early eighties about his employment with Nottingham City Transport. As it is a lengthy interview I have only extracted a very small part of it. “….there was trams operating nearly all trams, latterly they got one or two buses but I was then able to obtain employment on the Nottingham City Tramways Department, the wage I believe was £3.15s for a 48 hour week……..after being unemployed for a period I started as a conductor…..At that time I was on, you started as a spare man and a spare man was
  3. mercurydancer, There was a Fairfax Street and Fairfax Terrace off Radford Road.
  4. Blondie, maybe I have misunderstood your last two posts but are you not contradicting yourself. Unless of course you know more than you are letting on. #62 I quote you " I despise that awful woman, the cause of Diana's death" #64 I quote you " some people should think twice before they spread these horrible untruths which they cannot prove"
  5. Mary 1947, I also prefer to hold a photograph rather than view through a computer monitor or TV screen. All you need to do is take your memory card, I use Boots or Jessops and for a few pence you can print off 6x4 prints of your choice. As Catfan said back up your photographs’. I always back up onto my computer’s hard drive, an external hard drive and CD/DVD. You also need to consider that CD/DVD/s can get damaged by use and WILL deteriorate after time so don’t just rely on this method to store your treasured photographs, I am the same with books, I can’t get on with e-books at all.
  6. From the Telegraph, 3 September 2015 "Stop using the word chav, says an article in the Fabian Review, it is “deeply offensive to a largely voiceless group”. I am not in the habit of agreeing with the socialistic Fabian Society, but they have a point. Chav does not derive from “Cheltenham Average” or “Council House and Violent”. It comes from a Romany word for “boy”. The origin is irrelevant, though, for it is the meaning that hurts. Certainly the stereotypical chav is an absurd figure in his white tracksuit and bling, a silly hairstyle and Burberry accessories, perhaps accompanied by a nast
  7. I'm not that young Ian, it's one of my photographs on 35mm slide. Probably taken with my Zenith or Praktica, not sure, such a long time ago.
  8. I agree Ian, some great classic cars, As to the building, I think the roof design is very similar to Glade Hill Junior School at Bestwood Park.
  9. Compo. really enjoyed looking at your photographs of Sri Lanka.
  10. #3 Compo, to name just a few albums on your account, all accessible to the public. Dunbeath Strath, Garden (156), General Pictures, Noss Head, Wick Coastline South and the brilliant, my favourite, Ethiopia.
  11. Compo, on this wet bank holiday Monday I have just spent some enjoyable time looking at your photographs in photobucket, There are some great shots covering a variety of subjects. I don't know if you have uploaded much of your work in the past, if you haven't, you should. It would be good to see them covered on this site where you would reach a bigger audience and your efforts appreciated.
  12. #21 Like Terry I fully agree with you Catfan. It definitely wasn't a holiday camp, it was the most degrading and humiliating institution I was ever made to go to. BTW #122 I didn't come from a broken home either, we were just poor. My parents thought it was best for me at the time to go there and enjoy 3 weeks by the sea. It's a shame that I was too scared to tell them what it really was like when I returned home.
  13. Well done to your son Paul for getting a permanent job offer, he deserved it. Remember the Whitaker's are also very lucky to employ such a gifted and talented horseman, something that didn't go unnoticed. And don't forget, make sure his passport is up to date.
  14. Ian, A couple spring to mind the Vancouvers, Bobby Taylor the lead singer was black and Chris Clarke. Could we count Michael Jackson?
  15. #228 Margie H, Isn't that what Bubblewrap is saying? (#225)
  16. #72 That's a great photograph Cliff Ton. And I have been in the Plumptre Arms a few times, years ago.
  17. #371 and #372 I don't recall either the Coasters (Atlantic) or the Crystals (Phil Spectors own label) ever signing up to Tamla Mowton. I have virtually ever Tamla Motown record released since 1959 and I am certain they are not included in my collection. I don't have a favourite track. They are all my favourites.
  18. Those photos brought back some happy memories Engima. I went out with a girl who lived in the flat complex. We would often have a couple of drinks in the Cricketers before heading off into town.
  19. #55 I agree with you Fyner, see my post #18.
  20. Very true, certainly on modern properties but there are still many with C.I. and even asbestos. But all systems over time have potential leaking problems if not maintained. No matter what is used firstly is to check for blockage caused by vegetation, starting with the gully, if there is one, because if the rainwater cannot get away from there to the storm drain or soakaway it will back up and cause the damage. mentioned. I have found most leaks are a simple problem to resolve as long as you can find the source.
  21. #2 You are assuming it is plastic rainwater goods, slightly bigger problem if in cast iron, also crankypig is talking about drain pipes and not rainwater guttering/downpipes.
