  1. There are a lot of people out there who are clothed in petty officialdom and love telling us what to do. It makes you wonder whose side they would have been on if we had been invaded by the Germans in WW2.
  2. They will reflect but only when it's too late.
  3. @DJ360You have a pragmatic stance on the situation and will be acting sensibly to prevent the spread of infection. However there are many out there who want to 'celebrate' Christmas in the traditional way with friends and family. Whatever the regulations are in force at the time, many will ignore. This will result in a massive increase in infections and deaths of the elderly in the new year. The situation will be impossible to police.
  4. Any port in a storm. My favourites though, both which I've sailed into, are Falmouth and Oban, although I've never been brave enough to sail from one to the other.
  5. Ours was sort of pagan. It was in a church but I kept my fingers crossed.
  6. We’re sailing three sheets to the wind already!
  7. It do be the ancient lore of the sea from the dinghy mists of the past.
  8. Bad luck to have a woman on board, especially on Fridays.
  9. Nottingham Boys’ High School. Arboretum St. entrance.
  10. No, splicing the mainbrace is the only traditional ceremony we follow and we never set sail on a Friday with a woman on board obviously.
  11. The boat does have an outside toilet but you have walk along a plank to reach it. Many have not returned.
  12. I think that’s rather appropriate!
  13. Christmas is a pagan festival which has been appropriated by the Christians. As I am neither it has little meaning for me. However as something to brighten up the miserable days of winter I'm quite happy to raise a glass or two to cheer myself up.
  14. 'No decorations until Christmas Eve' has been the rule here for years. Down on BoxingDay if I had my way.
  15. It's too small for a poop deck. It's bucket and chuck it I'm afraid.
  16. I think Christmas will be a non event this year. I'm quite looking forward to avoiding all the festive nonsense. I've requested chop, chips and beans for Christmas dinner but my request has been refused. We have a table that can be extended to seat 10. We'll sit at opposite ends, socially distanced.
  17. I got a bit bogged down actually.
  18. @Brew I was drawing a flow chart.
  19. I was taking a break whilst listening to the music of Lou Rawls.
  20. Yes, I was doing cistern analysis at the time.
  21. @Jill Sparrow Yes, we got a week behind with the job.
  22. I once did an audit at Botts the builders’ merchants where there were no chairs and we had to sit on toilet seats!
  23. @LizzieM Potty! We're grown ups. Its 'toilet' duck!
  24. They're eloping on the next train from Portaloo Station.
