  1. We took on 2 cats 16 ish years ago. A mother and her son. The previous owner said the mother was only 7 months old when she had her 3 kittens (our son took on the other 2 kittens). The mother seems quite fit and healthy as are her grown up kittens. She is still the boss of her son and pushes him away if his food looks better than hers! She is quite small compared with all her offspring - perhaps she stopped growing after giving birth?
  2. Happy anniversary Barrie and Tina cx
  3. Rog, you seem to be a man of many talents!
  4. Sh …… BK we’re all trying to sleep! now you’ve gone and woken Phil up
  5. Ben, You are a very resilient person and a role model for those of us facing big problems with our health. If you can come through smiling, then so can we! God bless you, Ben x
  6. Ben, I expect you called it jelly lake because it would be full of frogspawn in the spring? Good on you for trying to stop bigger boys harming the frogs x
  7. We went blackberrying this morning down our village paths. Collected an ice cream tub full, so we . We some with apples in a crumble for lunch and froze the rest. Love the country life. We are looking after a friend’s puppy while they are on holiday this week so are being kept busy as she craves attention for much of the time!! She is lovely, although our two cats disagree with that…..
  8. That’s a terrible sight BK. Sometimes, fields catch fire near our village but nothing like the fires that have been out of control in other countries
  9. I’m not a fan of cut flowers. I love seeing flowers in the garden where they belong
  10. It may not be that Nottm centre no longer has a vibrant atmosphere - it might be that we older Nottstalgians are no longer vibrant ourselves? We all like to think that things were better when we were young, when we were full of life and hope for the future. I dare say that were the centre to be magically transformed overnight into how we remember it, the young people would moan that it wasn’t as good as it used to be! or am I wrong ?
  11. Happy birthday to Alex. I think we’ve had better weather here in Cambs than in Nottingham as I’ve been sitting outside in the garden some evenings until 10 ish. We are looking after a friend’s dog and she likes sitting with me in the garden when it’s dark, watching the bats zooming around. As we live in a village it’s fairly quiet here which is lovely
  12. Only just seen this, trogg. I hope the problem with your salivary gland will soon be resolved. Keep sipping water to keep your mouth moist and I’ve read it’s best to avoid citrus fruit and spicy food for now…. Thinking of you xx
  13. I still go to the optician every year, but they always tell me there are no lenses they can prescribe which will improve my eyesight I occasionally get new frames with the existing prescription just for a change or, like in your case Col, one of the arms drops off or a lens drops out! I only buy the cheapo glasses ……
  14. I just keep telling myself that our sheds and garage aren’t anything to do with me! I never go in there. What finds it’s way into the house is a different matter, though…
  15. @plantfit you are such a good husband with all you do in the house - cooking and cleaning etc, I’m very surprised if your wife’s pupils aren’t permanently dilated !!! Having a thoughtful husband like you would certainly be the way to many a woman’s heart…… I’m pleased that she decided to have the cataract op - when the eye drops are completed, I hope she’ll be delighted at the difference it’s made.
  16. I have eye drops put in my eyes every time I go the hospital eye clinic - every 1 - 2 months. The drops are atropine to dilate my pupils and they do sting unless you ask for some numbing drops first! Some of the nurses do put the numbing drops in automatically but some don’t - a cost cutting exercise perhaps? I always come out of the clinic looking like a ‘little black-eyed Susie’. It is supposed to look attractive having dilated pupils (I’ve read) as when a person looks at someone they fancy, their pupils naturally dilate !!!! Don’t know if that’s true ….. or perhaps people
  17. @benjamin1945 is it possible that the driver who beeped you realised that you couldn’t hear his approach and knew he needed to let you know? Just a thought ….
  18. I love our TomTom and also sometimes use google maps or Waze at the same time. I like to see if they both agree. (I’m not the driver!!) We also have an in-car satnav but it needs updating so don’t use that. Before we go anywhere different I also ‘drive’ round the area on Street View. I really love doing that! @LizzieM I have used ‘3 words’ as well - it is so clever! I just LOVE Satnavs!!! Strangely enough, we absolutely rely on TomTom when we come to Nottingham up the MI because after we’ve left it, there are some roundabouts with several exits and if there
  19. @benjamin1945 I think what you need is a Time Machine to take you back to the 50s/60s when life seemed less complicated and worrying. (But even back then, many people had a hard life …. ) I’d love to go back to the Locarno times with you and trogg but only for a short time as I’d miss my family and friends. It would be great to dance with you both - but I hope the Time Machine would also give me my teenage body back!!!
  20. I had the cataract removed from my left eye 22 years ago and the result was wonderful. Also the op never hurt at all! I now have a cataract in my right eye but the eye doctors have said it’s probably not worth having it done as cataracts aren’t my main problem …. It’s macular degeneration which is causing my poor eyesight.
  21. @Messy Hessey there is certainly a Facebook page for Carlton le Willows. You’ll obviously have to use your real name for that, though…. Best of luck in your search for details of your past….
  22. @LizzieMSorry to read about all the worry you’ve been going through. I hope all the problems will soon be completely resolved. As nonna said, it’s good that you are now home in Nottingham. We will be thinking of you both x
  23. @Cliff Ton Picadilly is a very appropriate landmark as the statue of Eros is in the centre!
