  4. Many thanks for the link. Just a point about the Nottingham fb that 17000 like it is a like page which means the administrator controls what will be shown on the page with no natural ebb and flow which is a feature of a group. fb is never to everybodies liking but the one pleasure of the group is that you never know what will appear next and it is all in one spot. Also you can post pictures directly and don't have to photobucket a strange link to post a pic. Don't get me wrong I know and do post in this way to various websites but sometimes the easy fb way is easier. cheers Mike
  5. for anyone who wants to use the media of facebook and post pictures and chat about Nottingham whilst on the move https://www.facebook.com/groups/427827414046482/ if this breaches forum rules please delete
  6. We used to use the Turf in the 80s selling excellent Shippos beers . The landlady made the most fantastic curry cobs and great chip cobs. Anybody else remember the curry cobs?
  7. Terrible getting rid of the ones in slab square. I asked the lord mayor when they were doing a presentation on the new layout why they were being removed . he introduced me to the lady responsible for it all . turned out she was from Leicester and said people don't need toilets anymore in the square !
  8. The Wheeler gate shop is still owned by a family member. I still have my Jaget Droz watch I bought from John. His shop was next to my father in laws newsagent GT Cliffs they were close friends.
  9. The newsagents tobacconists was GT Cliffes my wife's granddad's shop.Originally near Sam's garage till they pulled the row down and moved everyone into temporary shacks across the road. They all then moved back into the new premises at the back of the Evening Post on the new square. Sadly they were all pulled down again when the Corner house development was built. I have some pics of the original shop and a unique one inside the shack. Shall I post on here or a new post ?
