  8. It won't if you switch it off, or better still don't buy one
  9. Well done the ladies football team. To be honest I would rather watch the women play football, there is no faking injury and rolling around the pitch as much as there is in the mens game, and no spitting and foul language.
  10. Our rag & bone man had all his fingers blown off in WW1 or so it said on the slip of paper he shoved through the letter box. Got a goldfish once, had it for years. I was living on Cockington Rd at the time.
  11. I went to see Freddie and the Dreamers in Linköping Sweden in 1990, there was only 10 people in the audience, but they did the show. After the show we went and a had a few words with him and I said how disappointing it must have been with so few people, but he replied......... it's not a problem, we go out there and play as though it was a full house.
  12. Loved school dinners because my mum was a dreadful cook. I was then at Huntingdon St school and dining place was in like a sort of wooden building at the top of Union Rd opposite the car showrooms I hope I have this right lol
  13. Lizzie, It's just that I lived in Sweden 27 years and I speak the lingo, just though it might be nice to chat to someone on here and exchange memories.
  14. Anybody on here that have lived in Sweden and can speak the lingo ?
  15. Yes, I think your right, I think memory is slipping a tad, anyway it was the first time I got long trousers, chuffed to buggery I was. So off to school I went on the Monday morning, with a clean hankerchief in one pocket and a couple of marbles in the other ( no comments on that point please lol ) proud as Punch. I can't remember the name of the school, but it is now Samworth Academy on Bramhall Rd.
  16. Yes, It might well have been.
  17. Thanks for photo Cliff Ton, yes I think that that might be the place, but can't be a 100% it's such a long time ago. I think me and my foster parents called in there and bought boiled sweets after we had been to C&A, at the top of Parliament St to buy my first school uniform.
  18. Thanks Compo, yes your probably right, I have tried looking on Google Earth and Google maps, but Nottingham has changed so much I hardly recognise any of it. Haven't been to Nottingham for many a year.
  19. Walked across it hundreds of times, from Union Rd to the city centre. Great shot by the way.
  20. Something called " Suet Pudding " but I don't think it was a pudding as such, might have had it with the main meal with gravy, can't remember.
  21. I used to nick a couple of spoonfulls of National Dried Baby milk from the tin when nobody was looking. Used to buy a stick of " Spanish Root " when I had a couple of pennies to spare. Last time I bought some was about 1977 at a sweet shop somewhere near the Theatre Royal. I think the shop was on Upper Parliament St, again I am not sure.
  22. Oh dear, looks like I have put my foot in it, I didn't mean to upset anybody, I just think that pressing the like button or leaving a comment might encourage those members that are standing in the shadows to come forward and post more or at least feel involved. But maybe I have got it wrong ? Anyways thanks for all your " Likes and Comments ". I still think this a fantastic site though.
  23. I agree with most of the above, I find this site very interesting and informative, and it is nice to get the odd like and comment now and then. On the other hand I have found it to be a little cliquey. I don't expect to get any likes, but comments I might.
