  1. Disgusting wasn't quite the word I was thinking of at the time.
  2. Back in the early to mid seventies I used to work for Wigfalls as a driver's mate. We used to return TV's to customers. that had been repaired back at the Russell St. base. We did return Martin's TV at Sherwood Zoo on one occasion. Don't remember much, apart from he had a cracking looking wife. He had a massive landscape photograph of her on one wall lying down with a Leopard, wearing nothing but a leopard skin Bikini. I was an impressionable 17 year old at the time.
  3. I used to use the Jeffs on Alfreton Rd & Hockley. My pride & joy was my Green & Gold Two-Tone Trevira Suit. I also used to buy my Bluebeat Trilby's, Ben Sherman shirts, etc from there. I loved Jeffs
  4. Register your Phone No. with the TPS. This will stop unsolicited calls (from within this country) from sales people. You can contact your phone service provider and ask them to block calls from people that have their number withheld. http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html Neither of these methods will prevent incoming calls from overseas (withheld number or not), nor will it prevent calls from survey companies. But it will filter a lot of the spam calls out. If one manages to get through, ask them if they are interested in taking out a new mobile phone contract and claiming back P
  5. My film was: The Lieutenant Wore Skirts In this hilarious romp starring Tom Ewell, Sheree North and Rita Moreno, a middle-aged ex-serviceman who plans to re-enlist (Ewell) is shocked to learn that not only did he fail his medical exam, his wife (North) has enlisted - and is really making the grade in the Air Force. Unhappy to be a "house husband," he flies to Hawaii to be near her - and also to hatch a scheme to get her discharged.
  6. I remember all of the items on the list of the OP except ice trays. We did not have a fridge until the early seventies. My favourite TV programmes as a child, which I watched at my grans as we did not have a TV, was Watch with Mother, Rag, tag & bobtail, Supercar & Fury. We then got a TV and I loved Dr Who. On Saturdays & Sundays I would always make sure I was sat in front of the TV for Batman (Same bat time, same bat channel). The Xmas edition of Ready, Steady, Go was a big thing for all the family. I remember that New Years Eve TV was monopolised by Scottish shows - Andy
  7. My memories of Central Market are my Gran buying me a Rupert the Bear annual, my Mum buying fish from there and buying a spray of flowers for some body's funeral.
  8. Celery and a saucer full of salt.
  9. My first job was at the Raleigh. It employed 6000 people back then. With the loss of Players, Raleigh (apart from the handful at Eastwood), Plessey and now a good chunk of Boots, the biggest employer in Nottingham is probably Experian. Where all the manufacturing jobs (and the skills)? Certainly not in Nottingham anymore.
  10. Colemans was a place I frequented back in 1970 / 71. Used to have fun there. Think it was Friday nights I used to go, although, it could have been Mondays, misspent youth affects my memory.
  11. I've recently switched from Virgin to Sky. My observations on the 2 services are: Sky delivers more channels and the HD quality is far superior to Virgin. The Virgin Tivo box is far superior to the Sky HD plus box.
  12. Katy the kookaberra (sp?)
  13. My Mate's mum used to work at the Cavendish back in the sixties. Me & may mate (Peter) would often go in for free - his mam had a pass that we used. Great days.
  14. I used to use the one on the corner of St James St. / Maid Marian Way, back in the early seventies. I remember they had a minimum price you had to pay at lunch times / peak periods. I 'fancied' one of the waitresses named Shirley, but being only 14 / 15 I never had the nerve to ask her out.
  15. I used to date Wendy Sisson when I was a very young early teen. I lived at 107 Withern at the time.
