  3. Mrs B he’s the sommelier/ butler. Thankyou .
  4. Thankyou Mary. I love doing these felted dolls and animals. I have so many of them. I’ve even got a hollowed display on the kitchen window sill to give some of them an airing. I’ve always done handicrafts, sewing , embroidery and cross stitch so my handiwork is everywhere. I did 2 pictures of angels in cross stitch and hung them in the bedroom but my husband made me take them down !!!!!
  5. Thank you. Yes I made it over a few weeks. It’s made of wool not knitting wool but wool from a sheep ( sorry I know you know) that when it’s shorn is washed and carded. I can’t get a supplier here so I order from Germany. I made a sommelier that my daughter uses at the wine festival and yesterday my nieces partner wanted a foto of it to advertise his new wine.
  6. BP goes all over the place. I never had mine taken whilst in UK but here everyone seems to know exactly what their BP is and can tell you what a medical report involves. Over time I can understand a result or two and that’s only because my oncologist explained to me, so those I can relate to but the rest I just look at the results that are asterisked and either lookup on internet or disregard. We are given our results and we have to keep them for further visits or exams. I don’t think they are available in UK are they?
  7. Hope everywhere gets back to normal soon and everyone is safe.
  8. Dj glad you are progressing well. PP many congratulations on your anniversary I omitted to wish you well. Very shocked to see so much flooding in England Hope no one was in danger. Tonight I looked out the kitchen window which looks towards the road. The sky was black with sunny bits and to the east the sky was pink. We are in for some bad weather and probably flooding too , only hope we will be as lucky as we’ve been in the past. After the extremely cold days recently we’ve gone back to warm then it’ll change again. No wonder there’s a lot of sore throats around. Keep dry and we’ll everyo
  9. So sorry for your spoiled anniversary PP. These things always come at the wrong time. Our 50 th was ruined because of covid and my 80th well I wouldn’t have had it any different. My husband was in hospital having an op for his back. But we make up for them in other ways or other times and I’m sure you will enjoy it soon. Hope the floods soon clear up.
  10. Yes we never got to put summer things away.It was nice to have warm comfortable weather but now it’s not
  11. Three days ago we were walking out in the sun and complaining it was a bit too hot for the month we were in. Today and the last 2 days it’s COLD and very cold. Temperature has gone down too much and hasn’t given us time to get adjusted. Sounds pathetic but the difference is too much.
  12. When I had my back operation a few years ago I felt on top of the world and a couple of inches taller. I had 5 slipped discs but the surgeon said he could only correct the 3 lower ones. AlI was fine until covid made me sit more and I seemed to be back to square one. I started exercises and yoga . It got better but started hurting me again when I either overworked or bent over too long making beds or washing floors. We have all tiles. After a visit back to Dr he gave me some Lyrica which I take only at night but can take it again in the morning if necessary. Up to now after 3 weeks I don’t have
  13. Phoned Milan about our flights to London this morning. After the rigmarole press this press that I finally got to speak to an “ English” assistant. He was Indian I believe and it took me a few minutes to understand him. Gave my reference number and I had to repeat it 4 times because he got it wrong. After the big question that I had explained quite clearly he said “what do you want to know, why the flight was late?” At the end after he went away to enquire he came back to say he couldn’t help me because he didn’t know anything about it. I was left That’s BA help and assistan
  14. Well done DJ sounds nice. I love Greek food but never cooked it nor have I been to a Greek restaurant in UK or here. Eaten fabulous food with local Greeks , in Greece they always know the best restaurants. My daughter did an eastern food evening at a new place opened by distillers that’s opened near us . Apart from numerous dishes she made Baklava 2 large trays deliberately, one for us. It was so good but very sweet. We used to eat it in a Turkish restaurant years ago in Nottingham . It was the only sweet I had. Just an update . Weather is continuing to be very warm 35c today. We’re s
  15. Heaven help us. Total chaos.
  16. Incredible Mary. Now this morning I have to phone Milan because there’s nothing on internet about flights at this time. Apparently it happened as well in May last year.
  17. The day is ending badly. Not even a week ago my daughter and I booked flights to go to London Gtw. Now we hear that flights from Turin are no longer flying into Gtw from end of October. We’ve booked from dec19 to Jan3. Have tried to contact them but chat only give multi answers and phone number goes beep beep beep after a while. So hopefully tomorrow we will be able to hear from them .Hotel is booked too. Moving to HR ok but can’t change dates.
  18. I’m surprised that stamps are still on sale. But not everybody has a PC so really I suppose the increase justifies the need. We stopped buying and trying to send Christmas cards because we bought the cards we liked but the post office always said “ wrong size they won’t be franked” so eventually we stopped , explaining to everyone what was happening but then we thought . We phone nearly everyone we know to wish them seasons greeting so it’s pointless to try and send cards. This is more personal and is appreciated especially to the older folks who in any case get regular calls from us and they
  19. Sorry Ben but had to laugh What an awful thing to happen. Will they let you in again?

    Food

Food is interesting! Likes and dislikes are so varied. When I married an Italian and came here to meet my future in laws I was certainly a bit naive about food and it’s preparation and no I’m not an expert now. Eventually was introduced to many combinations of food that I wouldn’t have thought was possible to like. I hate tripe but I like liver .I love Italian food, Chinese, Japanese and Indian. But at Pizza Hut shoot the chef . Garlic doesn’t go on Pizzas neither does pineapple. If you like it spicy get a Margherita and sprinkle some peperoncino on it.
  21. Same here . We live in a village of 3700 inhabitants some of which are Macedonian, Albanian, Chinese ,Tunisian , Maroccan, a few Russian, Us, in addition Norwegian, French,American, German and other Europeans that have bought summer residencies in and around the village. How they found us is a mystery. It is a very pretty village though and we have the honour of having vineyards producing D.O.C wines, Hazelnuts that are used to make chocolates for Ferrero in Alba. There, could be the reason, but considering the unrest in the world it could be the nearest port in a storm. They have all integra
