  1. It is just short of 100 days until the start of "The Limp Dick Games" The free to air TV channel that is telecasting the games is bombarding us with jingoistic adverts. Obviously all about Australian participants. When it is on we only see events where the Australians participate and never see any of the non main stream but nevertheless interesting sports. FFS Break dancing is not a sport neither is "sport" climbing or 3x3 Basketball, what in the heck is artistic swimming? Where are they going to surf in Paris? Have a guess, it will be in Teahupo'o in Tahiti, French Polynesia. What a bl**
  2. Forest- Fail to capitalise on the game in hand over Luton by losing 2-0 away at Everton. The referee and VAR came in for severe criticism for failing to award penalties to Forest, one handball appeared obvious yet was denied. Everton scored the first of their long range efforts in the 29th minute when Idrissa Gueye fired one home. McNeil put the result beyond doubt when his 25 yard shot went in off the post in the 76th minute. At the end of normal time the game was stopped for 8 minutes after Everton player Beto was injured during a challenge by Morgan Gibbs-White and had to be taken off
  3. Interesting article on today's game EVERTON vs FOREST from The Gridiron Everton’s and Forest’s deduction derby is a deeply flawed relegation six-pointer | Everton | The Guardian
  4. Somewhere I have a medallion given to all the employees of the automotive components company I worked for in Sydney celebrating 75 years of operation. They only went and spelled the name of the company wrong didn't they. HR who organised it and did the proof reading of the artwork got an almighty bollocking from the MD. I suppose one day it might be worth something.
  5. Apparently hedgehogs are quite tasty. Back in the 50s we often had genuine travellers/gypsies camp near the end of our village and they told us that after dispatching the little critters and gutting them then covering them in clay and baking them in a fire. The spines come off with the skin along with the clay. Apparently, hedgehog stew is quite popular too. It is illegal to domesticate them in the UK but it is not illegal to eat them. in January 2023 some travellers in Belgium were fined 1,600 Euro for eating them. Before anyone arcs up, Guinea Pigs or Cuy are bred specifically for
  6. radfordred, oops, I did issue a formal apology, see the post above yours How do you think they will go today away at Everton
  7. Forest - Luton were smashed 1-5 at home by Brentford so even if Forest lose at home to Manchester City today, as I predicted, their position will be unchanged, still one point ahead of Luton. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Don't know what made me put Manchester City when of course they are away at Everton. I must have been thinking of their last home game. I put this one down as a draw giving Forest a very welcome away point. DOH!
  8. County - As I predicted a 1-0 home win against Colchester United in front of just over 11,000 fans brings Notts County's home season to an end. Despite indifferent form in the last third of the season kudos go their fan base for turning out to support them. After Colchester almost took the lead early doors it was pretty much all County. It took that man Macauley Langstaff, who scored his 28th goal of the season in the 54th minute to break the deadlock and keep the Magpies in 14th place. Colchester are still under the threat of relegation. County away at already relegated Forest Green Rovers n

  11. What happened to the days when you could just open the boot or the hatch, pull back a bit of the carpet, take off a cover. twist the bulb out and pop in a new one. A few quid and away you go. Ease and cost of assembly of the vehicle trumps serviceability every time. Quite often the visibility of the modern light clusters is a lot less than the older cars.
  12. County - In front of 11,656 fans, no doubt many from Stockport saw the Magpies thumped 2-5 at home against Champions, Stockport County. Paddy Madden scored a hat-trick in the first half to put the game beyond doubt even at that early stage. His second goal was a penalty after Cowley's handball. 5 minutes after half time Stockport went further ahead with a goal from Antoni Sarcevic. The Magpies eventually opened their account with a goal from that man Macauley Langstaff in the 61st minute and two minutes later Dan Cowley bagged another for Notts but all too late as Etham Pye hit Stockport's 5th
  13. Apart from Black Russian and Piccolo as cherry tomatoes what varieties is everyone planting?
  14. I have a leaf blower that converts to a lawn vac. It mulches the leaves as it sucks them up and then I just tip the contents of the bag on the garden beds, it helps keep the weeds down. Deciduous leaves make the best mulch as it breaks down quickly. If the leaves are from eucalypts I put them in our green bin as they take forever to break down but I doubt this is not a problem in the UK. You are incredibly lucky to have the Pheasants, beautiful birds. We get the odd duck who soon polish off any clover in the lawn
  15. The company I buy my electricity from, we do not have a mains gas supply here, is offering new customers a $200 credit on their first bill if they switch to them. What about their existing loyal customers? They get SFA. Thanks for your loyalty.
  16. Sadly yesterday "Deadly" Derek Leslie Underwood passed away aged 78. He earned the nickname "deadly" due to his ability to skittle other teams' batsmen on rain affected wickets. He took 297 wickets in his career with England. It would have been many more but he joined World Series Cricket in 1977 and the rebel tour of South Africa in 1981/82 for which he was banned from international cricket for three years. Thanks for the memories Derek, you were one of the finest proponents of slow left arm spin bowlers England ever produced. Deepest condolences to family and friends.
  17. Great work plantfit. I liked the Atlantean better in the Trent livery. Although I grew up with it the NCT green always looked drab, especially when dirty in the winter.
  18. Yesterday in the Westfield shopping centre at Bondi Junction, Sydney, a man armed with a knife killed six people, and injured many others including stabbing a nine month old baby. The baby's mother is among those killed. A female police officer shot the assailant dead when he raised the knife at her. My sincere condolences go out to all those impacted by this atrocity. The police say the assailant, 40 years old Joe Cauchi was known to police in Queensland and was believed to have had mental issues. I do hope the police officer Inspector Amy Scott does not face any repercussions or enquiri
  19. County - I got that one wrong as County come away from Bescot Stadium with a 1-3 away win. They move up to 14th and put a severe dent in Walsall's chance of making the playoffs. That man Macauley Langstaff opened County's account in the second minute, Nemane scored in the 28th minute and Austin sealed the points in the 69th minute after Walsall played most of the second half with a man down after Comely was sent off for tripping Cowley. Home against ladder leaders Stockport County on Tuesday evening. Stags - Promotion looks almost certain after a majestic 1-4 thumping of 4th placed
  20. Just read an article in "The Grid Iron" saying that many Notts farmers have been refused compensation for flooding as their farms are "Too far from a major river". Nottinghamshire is one of the worst affected counties. The DEFRA guidelines say that farms more than 150 metres from a major river are not eligible for a grant of between 500 and 25,000 pounds to return their land to the condition it was in before the major storm event, Storm Henk, in January. The farming minister Mark Spencer is from a farming background in Nottighamshire. He should be sinking a size twelve toe-capped wellie into t
  21. Why would an 82 year old Italian international goalkeeper remove nail varnish? He is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of all time. Our Ben will understand this one!
  22. I was terrified by a house called The Red House, it was the mine mangers house in our local village. It had a big walled garden but the best apple orchard, just right for scrumping. Got caught by the local plod who said if I catch you scrumping here again I'll be telling your dad and grandad. The ultimate deterrent.
