  1. Yes, but they moved to Broad Marsh when the "new" bus station opened in the early seventies.
  2. Unfortunately, Atlantean 526 is no longer in preservation. David Henderson, whom I came to know quite well when he was driving for Northampton Transport, had to give up the unequal struggle against chassis corrosion. He offered it to Nottingham Heritage Vehicles for continued preservation, but they broke it for parts to keep their other ex NCT vehicles running.
  3. Whilst deploring the building on sportsfields, I cannot agree with you Mary about Britain not doing well at the Olympic Games. In 2008 we finished fourth in the medals table behind, USA, China and Russia, 2012 we were third behind China and USA, whilst in 2016 we were second behind USA. Given our relative size we have certainly been punching above our weight in recent times.
  4. A very brave man indeed. Finally succumbed to his injuries received from his crash at the 1976 German Grand Prix. He certainly lived life to the full in the 43 years that he had following that crash. An inspiration to others that have to live with life changing injuries.
  5. Now its sunk in, in a perverse sort of way, I am rather looking forward to next season.
  6. My belief, is that Kevin Nolan had already lined up his transfer targets before the end of last season under the impression that Notts would win promotion and be playing in League 1. These players would have been well suited to League 1 where you get more time on the ball. However as we know three crucial decisions went against Notts in the two games against Coventry City and we missed out on promotion. The players that came in were not suited to the more physical style of League 2 and we have paid the ultimate price. As long as we avoid going into administration a top seven finis
  7. A VERY sad day indeed. However, I will still be proud to tell anybody that asks, that I support NOTTS COUNTY. C'mon you 'pies.
  8. Probably the mid 50s, as the number 32 was used for a short lived service to The General Hospital, in the late 1940s.
  9. Of course, we could beat Mk Dons and Crawley. Yeovil and Macclesfield lose both of their games and come five o'clock on Easter Monday we are four points clear of the drop zone with two games left to play. I'd give up my Hot Cross Buns and Easter Eggs to make that happen.
  10. This site is like the BBC, its mission is to educate, inform and entertain.
  11. Nottingham stands firm with the people of Liverpool. YNWA
  12. Beekay, in the late 70s a number of ex London Transport AEC Swifts were exported to Malta to replace some of the life expired bonneted vehicles.
  13. Does anybody have any memories of a printing company called Hunt & Co, I believe that they were located in Basford. Amongst other things they printed ticket rolls for use in the Bell Punch Ultimate ticket machines used by NCT from the late 1940s onwards.
  14. Black Holes? can anybody throw some light on the subject
  15. RR, its two at home, three away. Our away form is better then our home form, 46 points should see us safe, so three more wins should do it. (Crawley are in free fall and could still get dragged into the dog fight.
  16. They don't talk proper like uz then
  17. Hope springs eternal after today's results
  18. If I remember correctly 1975/6 was the last season that we finished higher than Forest. Coincidentally that was the first season I started going down the Lane. First game was on a Tuesday night in November, we beat Plymouth Argyle 1-0 thanks to an Ian Scanlon header.
  19. Understated greatness.
  20. The boggers are teasing us. 3-1 away win at Carlisle, Yeovil lose, means we are off the bottom and only four points from safety. Not exactly looking rosy yet, but there is hope. (Of course it is the hope that kills.)
  21. I like it when a 53 year old is considered a youngster
  22. In response to Firbeck's original post, I can confirm that Henry newton attended William Sharp as he was in the same year as my Mum.
  23. Easter could well see relegation confirmed.
