  1. There used to be an elderly bloke with glasses who drank in the Sir Richard Arkwright, he sold newspapers in the city centre, damned if I can recall his name now. That was in the 60's.
  2. So THATS what my Dad gorruptoo!! He worked for COOP, he did a stint as a bread delivery roundsman and also as a milkman for them, he also did a stint for Prices bakery too as a roundsman, mostly shops with them though. When he first started delivery, not sure who with! But he had a horse and cart delivering milk during his late teens, he said he loved that as all he had to do as he was working his way down the street, was cll out, and the hoss just walked down. He was unlucky one day though, near the end of his round, the horse knew it was close to knock off time and started forward while
  3. Got to replace the drivers side brake caliper and wheel bearings today..... I hate bleeding brakes......
  4. I used to live in the "Gong" Gordon, then lived in Bathurst for a while before taking the bride back home.
  5. OOOOO That would definately get the offender a ticket over here Mick, as you are well aware, being a frequent visitor to these shores. Probably get more from the owner of the car thats boxed in too. I'd let the mongrels tyres down and take the valve stems, drop them down the nearest drain!!!
  6. Ayup lass, wen I wer a snotty nosed kid, thats how we talked!! The dialect of Nottingham has south Yorkshire and Midlands accents mixed. You should hear how they talk in Birmingham!!!!!
  7. I can recall when I lived in Australia, in country areas, men and management frowned on women going in the public bars!! They could go in the "best side" but not the bar! But these days women can swear with the best of them!
  8. They all talk with an Arkansas "twang" round here Cali, black folks are still ostrasized and called that nasty "N" word. I usually chat and say well, I've worked and known plenty of white niggers in my time and known many nice black folk too!! Usually works, as they say "Hey, your right, so and so down so and so is a white nigger"....
  9. Well there was being a cowboy...errrr, I don't think I'll go there
  10. Sounds like your Dad was an Elvis fan then !rotfl!
  11. You're lucky Shari, my ex was a marine (and a cowboy to boot!) and it was VERY common all around the area near the marine base!! My ex used to leave spit cups all around the house! Blaaaahhhhh!!!! no2 Yuk, thats filthy Cali!!
  12. How in the heck did you wind up in Missouri, "The Show Me State" ?? whatever that means anyway We lived in California a few years, and just plain got fed up with the politics and cost of living! So we ended up in my wife's home state. Fantastic down here in the Ozarks though! Great spring fed clear rivers, low cost of living, affordable housing and land, fair climate, would be perfect but for the summer humidity. One last point, VERY LOW crime rate, almost zero really!
  13. I live in Red Neck country Shari, south central Missouri, not far from the Arkansas state line. I was born and bred in Nottingham though, that why I visit with this rabble on here..
  14. Hi Gordon and welcome!! Never bred birds but a mate of mine used to breed budgies for a hobby, I think he's gone over to pigeons now, not sure.
  15. That made me think of the workshops down Brit Gypsums Marblaegis Mine. I was an electrician there and we used to have an old Ford Dexta tractor to run around on underground. One day the injector pump went out on it and the fitters were too bust to repair it for us. One of them told me to get a new pump out of the stores, take the old one off and fit the new one myself. He told me what to do, so I carried on. About an hour later, I was ready to bleed the system of air and proceeded, having bled all the air out, I tightened everything up, sat in the seat and tried to start it..................
  16. That used to be common in Brit coalmines Cali, they couldn't smoke for obvious reasons so had a "chow" as they said. It used to be bought in the canteen as a 3/8inch by about 8 inch "twist". Never could get the taste for it, tasted worse than horse shite, not that I've ever tasted horse apples!! I used to smoke those days too, so I just chewed gum and took snuff for my "nicotine fix" Funny enough, never had an urge for a smoke underground, but once I was getting close to the shaft at the end of a shift, the craving started!!! I'd get off the cage at pit top and run to the workshops where I

  18. Looks like it's time for me to wave goodbye until you have these TROLLS sorted out Mick. I'll be back to see if the TROLLS have been evicted from time to time, but until then I'm gone... Good luck Mick! You'll need it!! Start with FCD and his twin Huge Anus then the new twins Homo's Pinky and Perky Smallbottoms!! They will kill your site Mick and drive ALL your members away! Catch you later Mick!
  19. When I was a young apprentice, I worked with an electrician who'd been a POW with the Japanese, I have never worked, or met anyone who hated a race anymore than him, his name was Doug Brompton. He always said, they should have dropped dozens of atomic bombs on Japan! He's probably been dead years now...
  20. The story and bridge were fictitious but based on the building of the Burma railroad by the Japanese with forced allied slave labour. Many British, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian and American POW's lost their lives building that railroad....
  21. Most sites appear to be like that Hugh, although al7bar is extremely active, mind you, they have well over 200,000 members! But thats for people "testing" FTA satellite receivers on Dish Network and Bell Express Vue!
