  1. Don't want to burst your bubble Lizzie but I don't think some itinerant will be able to service what I presume is quite an expensive watch. Watches of that calibre have fancy seal systems and are usually pressure tested when the back is closed after the battery has been replaced. Some are even closed in a vacuum chamber. If it has a battery it's reasonable to assume a quartz movement, I would ask him what 'exactly' he did to service it as there are very few moving parts. £300 and off to foreign parts is a total rip off though so I don't blame you..
  2. Now there's a concept to wrestle with Margie being pushy..... No offence Margie but it does seem a bit of an oxymoron...
  3. My son has one and bugger me if the hands go round the same way as a Timex!

  7. I can remember him being dragged through a bookcase and knocked unconscious, which is an opening for someone to come along and make a comment on. I was going to say I'm in the minority in that I actually liked those mentioned here but I don't think i am. Norman got a bit much of a muchness and Askey was only funny in parts but thinking about it they would not have achieved the success they did if they weren't hugely popular. They were of their time. I howled with laughter at Laurel and Hardy as a youngster but their antics now hardly raise an eyebrow.
  8. At an average 3 mins per post that equates to around a week of your life. Don't even think about the time reading and researching... Just sayin....
  9. Thoroughly endorse Margie's post CT, keep going mate..
  10. ... or £4.50 and a lottery ticket..
  11. I think if you look hard enough the same has been said of most 'personalities', usually by someone with an axe to grind. One of the prerequisites for a performer is an ego the size of Wales and it's almost inevitable that they become too full of their own self importance. One the other side of the coin there are those that are genuinely nice people.

  15. Think about when it all happened, the Russians and the Americans were locked in a space race, does anyone really believe the Russians would let them get away with faking it? I'm fairly sure tracking stations around the world followed it all the way there and back, any slight deviation like a stop off for a Big Mac would have been seen and noted...
