  1. Hi Jill, I dont know if you're still interested in the Barber family thread that I came across only today as I was researching the family but I have strong connections with Lamb Close as my grandfather was head gardener there for 40 years and my father grew up there and indeed I spent many years as a young girl running around the grounds. I think I read where you had some old photographs which my father and I - he's 90 next week - would love to see, we have our own as well obviously. I have messaged Tom Barber as well to see if he is still interested in old stories etc. Many thanks anyway in anticipation.

      Hello Eastwood Born and Bred

The only photos of the Barber family I have are already posted on this site.

You will have read of my interest in Ruth Barber, daughter of Dr Barber of Church Street, Eastwood. We don't know where she and her father's family fit into the family and I don't think Tom Barber does, either. Ruth never went to Lamb Close but is related to the family.

Unfortunately, I can tell you no more than what is already on NS.

  2. Dear all, I am a very new member to this forum I only joined today when I came upon the site whilst researching a silver pocket watch owned by Sir Philip Barber which was given to my grandfather Herbert Ash who was head gardener at Lamb Close from 1944 to 1988. I have many memories and pictures of Lamb Close if anyone is interested. My aunt and uncle also lived in Lamb Close lodge at the bottom of the drive from 1976 until 1986, Fred and Iris Middup if anyone remembers them.
