  3. My day has been spent at QMC again, I have been feeling rough for 3 weeks ,not unusual, put it down to different blood pressure tablets, then underneath my tongue was swollen up. Put up with it until I finally saw a GP on Friday, I struggled to eat or drink, she sent me straight to QMC I was seen by a Consultant and given antibiotics. Saw a different one Sunday different antibiotics ,threatened to keep in me as I was dehydrated. I escaped and saw him again today for inspection and x-ray. It appears I have a large stone in my saliva duct which is infected. Keep taking antibiotics and see you ag

  5. That reminded me of an incident a few years ago, my wife use to visit an elderly neighbour every day and had to take her for her eyes to be done, after taking her home she was settled down in her house and was told any problems phone us. At 6oclock next morning she was on the phone in a state, so straight around to her house , she was in a panic over what the op had done to her skin. She was adamant she never had any wrinkles before the op and look at them now. It took my wife several hours convincing her they were there before only now she could see them
  6. I can remember Bulwell Youth Club on Coventry Road Bulwell starting in one of these huts in the 60s, previously it was used by Highbury School. The leader was a bloke named "Spike", He used to live on site in a sectional Bungalow ,were invited to his wedding somewhere up North it had an open bar, a major mistake with young teenagers, the less said about that the better, but spike and his club were a major asset to Bulwell.
  7. Your from Bestwood Estate so you must be "hard" Well what happened to me then, I am sitting in front of the fire whinging.
  8. Hows my day ? cold, wet and miserable. I have just lit the fire to try and warm up my old creaking bones, I was hoping to spend time in my garage today but its even colder in there, but never mind I am sure the gaffer will find me a nice pleasant job to keep me occupied (out of her way). Aint I lucky roll on summer.

  10. Sorry to hear of your Problems Lizzie hope the situation is resolved soon . I have only had the pleasure to meet your hubby once and he was a great guy and very interesting to talk to. I will be thinking of you both in this troubling time. Ps I know what you mean about the A and E department so over crowded, busy and noisy you feel better when you leave the place. Love and chips to you both.
  11. Plantfit I have a push lawn mower as in the pictures I was given it in 1975 when my grandad passed away he kept his lawns immaculate with it. Since then it has been put in the back of my different sheds every time I moved house. I tried using it once never again its too much like hard work, give me powered mowers every time.
  12. Me to, I didnt recognise the area at first, it shows how long it is since I have been down that road. Your Grand son seems to have chosen a nice place to live Margie.
  13. Hi Ben I lived about 150 yards from Hove road going up Leybourne on the left hand side.

  16. I watched Utube early this afternoon it was a link to see my granddaughters graduation from Coventry Uni, she had a 1st in Business Management and Marketing. I was a proud old man. I already have one finished Uni and two other still there. I dont know where they received their brains from.
  17. Speak Russian Jill you must be joking, I used to be able to speak English but after being married for so long the wife has taught me (battered into me) how to communicate in 50s/60s basic hucknalese. So now I dont even understand myself.
  18. Ben I was concentrating on taking the photo with people walking past, then playing with the camera before chatting with the wife. When we went into Jeromes there was only the woman with a dog sitting outside, did you see it was me and run off, lol, my eyes need distance glasses to recognise anyone from that distance. Shame to have missed you, Bulwell is a great place for a coffee and a wander around, you never know who you will meet or miss.
  19. Here is a photo for Ben as he has missed his coffee here today , I still owe you a coffee Ben. Into Jeromes I had a black coffee and a real bacon sandwich with thick tasty bread and lashings of ketchup, to finish it off the compulsory cigarette. I am an animal, the wife said so. All this whilst sitting in the sun watching the world go bye. Then a walk along the Leen admiring the cleaniness of the water and the numerous ducks etc . Then off home , Bulwell town is a great place to visit.
  20. It appears normal now to never see the Doctor, if you are lucky after waiting eras for the phone to be answered you speak to the receptionist and if you are one of the chosen few and there is a spot left the Doctor will phone you late in the afternoon. Blood test sometimes the nurse at the surgery will do it but mostly you are given a phone number for another surgery to have an appointment weeks in the future. Blood pressure tests its do it yourself with your own machine or go to the surgery and use their machine . Prescriptions you have to tick what you want and then take it to the surgery.
  21. Dare I mention that some of the teaching from your favourite subject must have stuck in your memory.
  22. Great photo Clifton reminds me a times gone by, I had a Ford Zephyr as in the right hand corner of the photo. Mine was the 6 with a 2553cc engine, how did I afford the petrol, the best thing about it was the front bench seat, I say no more about that as I am now a happily married man.
  23. Mrs B the landline was part of the original package, no money off it if you don’t want the phone.
  24. Phil I am with Virgin for my internet and have received the same message that soon I must plug my phone into the router. The phone is with my internet package but I never use it for making calls and I only receive the occasional call on it, if it keeps Virgin happy, I am OK with it as I will never pay them any money for making calls on it. My sons package also includes a home phone he cannot remember the number and has never plugged a phone into the connection.
