  2. To be fair BK, most of the cars there are the right way up now!!
  3. I reckon that we should drop leap year and get the seasons back as they should be. Mr clever clogs who invented 'leap year' might have been wrong. If you think about it, over a period of 120years, we could technically moved a month out of sync with the seasons!!
  4. Basically, everything thats been asked before I got around to answering.
  5. Welcome to the site Charlotte, enjoy the banter and please tell all of us a bit more about yourself.
  6. And the scrotes on scooters who ride past and nick phones!!
  7. For Valentine's night, I've booked a table for two at 8.00 pm. Not sure how good the wife is at snooker though.
  8. When you were at Truman's, did you know anyone at Atkeys next door?. I went to Atkeys as an apprentice,69_70. I think the foreman in the 'mini clinic was Alex ?????, Can't remember his surname. Wish I'd stuck to my apprenticeship, but got tempted by more money to go and work for a guy down under the arches on Arkwright st. Lost out big time!!
  9. Was that the driving school just past the Vic station? If it was, didn't it have some sort of simulator in it?. I seem to remember something like that when I was young, it might have been somewhere else!
  10. All the best on your birthday col
  11. I split my chin after falling off a slide like that on Bath st, it was just before going to skeg at the weekend, just got told to bath my chin in the sea as the salt water would be good for it !. Mind you, that was 55years ago, wouldn't want to bath any wound in there now. And we also did the trick with the candle.
  12. They use triple glazing in the airport hotels it does reduce the noise a little bit but personally don't think it would solve the problem. And £1400.00, is it for the whole house, Or is your window the size of a shop front?. Try putting the dogs in your garden, and see how they like it.
  13. I must have had a good un, never gave me any problems apart from the insurance and regular replacement of tyres. Wish I still had it.
  14. No good to me, wouldn't know where to start, i can cook boiled eggs, toast, cheese on toast and beans on toast. My attempts at cooking have been as successful as Dani Pedrosa winning a moto gp world title
  15. That sounds like the one, i also overcame the problem, i scoffed the lot as soon as it was done!!
  16. I bet that was a handful!! A better bet in those days was the Dolomite Sprint, that was loads of fun. And quicker!
  17. I think your on the right line Jill and like you i can't remember what it was called. I used to love it when it was piping hot, gran used to tell me that hot bread was bad for you!!. Don't seem to have done me any harm, unless she was referring to memory loss!!
  18. I know this is an old thread but Peter the Greek was a friend of my father when my father ran the Trocerdero gambling club on Alfreton rd. Peter later opened his own club above his chip shop and dad would visit !! When he came up to visit me. Had many a Sunday night in there watching piles of money getting scooped up by various players, even had to sub my dad a couple of hundred on a few occasions, always got it back by the time we left. Quiet a few of the Greek restaurant owners would come to the Troc for a game of cards, i think gambling must be in their blood. It served us well though
  19. Until looking at all the different photos of the steam trains, i didn't realise that there were so many different versions ! To me, a steam train was just a steam train. Amazing how you view things differently when you get older, or is it just me ?
  20. Thanks for that BK, but it's not the one I was thinking of. The one I'm on about came in a soft wrapper and was about half the size until baked / cooked !!
  21. In 74 or 75 my neighbour, when we lived on st Ann's valley, had a new Volkswagen golf and I had a mini van. There was an horrendous hail storm one day, hail the size of golf balls, when it had finished we went out to have a look and his roof on the golf resembled a golf ball. My mini van had no damage, i think Volkswagen sorted it though. I reckon they use better steel nowadays.
  22. What happened to the 'Pillsbury doughboy' ? And whilst we're at it, in the late 60s / 70s you could get a bread that you had to do yourself, but I can't think of the name of it, i used to love that.
  23. Hi Cameron, your father was probably responsible for me ruining my sisters dress when he told me that I can't go in as i wasn't wearing a tie. Fortunately, sis had a dress with a black strap type of belt which I promptly removed (read ripped) and draped around my neck to resemble the aforementioned item, result, entry allowed!! Sis not very p!eased though!!
