I remember black dan ( appleton) used to keep a baseball bat under the desk. When the bell went for break he'd abandon the class the class and leg it,straight over th gass across the quadrangle to get to the staff room.

I wonder if it's the same thing . I was standing in the elis school playground around 56/57 and saw two planes collide.one came down somewhere over hucknall and I think someone was killed

When the bell rang he would abandon the class,run straight across the grass to be first in the teachers canteen room. i also remember Mr Guiliver.he should have taught religion but if you got him in not the war he would reside all his waretime memories.
