Looking at your avatar, I think you and 'Willow Wilson' must be twins. Lol
Aye. Noticed it after I had used it, hence the change to something perhaps more descriptive

Does anyone know when the allotments to the east of First Avenue, as depicted on Cliff Ton's map, above, were built over? I'm guessing it's post 40's from Chilla's post, above.

Can anyone remember, or does anyone know, when the houses to the east of First Avenue, Carlton, (Foxhill Road, Myrtle Road, Campbell Drive, Laurel Road etc.) were built on the allotments once located there and what the allotments were called. I understand various pathways led from Carlton Hill to an area beyond the area where the Richard Herrod Centre in now located.

Rang Virgin Media this morning and got a £28.00 / month reduction. If you haven't done it, it's worth it.

I was chatting with a friend yesterday. We worked out that he smokes about £3,000.00 worth of cigarettes per year. Discounting the health risk, surely the financial benefit is worth stopping smoking for.

Greetings All. I have lived in "The Shire" for approximately 25 years and have become interested in local history. I guess I am a Foreigner compared to most who frequent these pages, hence the "nom de plume." I am particularly interested in Carlton and maps of the area circa 1950 / 1960. I also have interests in Amateur Radio, Computers and Militaria.
The mode of communication is, in my humble opinion, much more preferable than other popular social media sites.
