  1. I can remember him, he was a bit flamboyant, had a thing for Lindsey Cohen. Cant think of his name. Were you there when Darryl Barker asked Miss Trail what fornication was in RE? Remembered it think it was Mr Crompton.
  2. Happy memories? She told me that long hair was dirty. Told me mum what she said, mum was suitably unimpressed and threatened retribution! Can you remember when she complained to Peake about us and he used to stand outside the classroom door watching us? Someone put a note in the register which said snitch. I can remember the lad who did it, was his surname Hook?
  3. I don’t walk around thinking I am going to get attacked at any moment just try not to put myself in a position where I might be vulnerable. When I was in my teens it wasn’t a thing I even thought about, at that age you think you are invulnerable, but even then there were things you just instinctively wouldn’t do. Think it first really hit home when the Yorkshire Ripper was at large. I lived in Doncaster then and had gone out with a group of girls from work, there was one that lived near me and she asked me to share a taxi with her as we would be late home. I said okay and she said better sa
  4. I would be interested to know the views of the other ladies on the site. Am I being paranoid or just careful? There is probably a fine line between the two.
  5. Gentlemen whilst it is a rather an over the top idea from a female point of view I can understand where she is coming from. I have also seen, can’t remember where and which country it pertained to a suggestion women should have a curfew in the evening so they don’t entice men to attack them! So let’s look at this from a female point of view. 1) We have to be careful what we wear especially as it can be seen as provocative (by males) as it can give the impression we are “fair game” although to us it is just fashionable. 2) Be careful how much you drink or ditto the above. 3) Wh
  6. Fairlad is the second person from BGS that I have got in contact with thru this site. The haversack incident confirms he is who I thought he was. Still got a couple of people I am trying to trace so will have to keep fingers crossed.
  7. Can you remember the haversack incident at BGS?
  8. I went to BGS with Stephen Blatherwick, he joined the police force from what I can remember, his older brother was in the 6th form as well. Also Raymond Wheat was in my class. Knew a Margaret Buxton, she had a sister whose name I can’t remember. My mum knew. Mrs Reville as well can remember her name being mentioned. Hey BK wonder how many times I travelled on your 56 or 60 bus when I was going into Nottingham for work or going to the pubs/clubs.
  9. I can vaguely remember a Brenda Thompson from Glenbrook Girls Junior. Also knew a Chambers family with a lad called Mick but they lived on Huxley Close for a while before they moved to Bulwell I think. There was also a Tommy, Beryl, Hilda and Margaret in the family. There was an older brother but can’t remember his name and a younger brother who was called Terrence I think.
  10. My mums was 109067 and they used to put it thru on the tills with sliding handle thingies (technical term) on the top of the till. I can remember going somewhere in town and queuing so she could withdraw it. Was it possibly at the big Co-op in town? You have a plastic card now BK that they swipe through the till.
  11. Last night I put a deposit on Ripley (named after the heroine in the Alien films although he is a boy - hope this doesn’t give him gender issues!!) who is a 2 day old black cockapoo. He weighs in at a hefty 380gms at the moment. It was a bit of a hairy moment as it was done by bank transfer and I had never done it before, had visions of the money disappearing into the banking system never to be seen again, but it arrived safely and I got a receipt in my email. If for any reason I decide I don’t want him (very unlikely) then I will get my deposit back when the pup is resold which is fair enoug
  12. Explains why they are continually around the top of the “league” table of cases and not coming down much.
  13. I got £4 working in Boots offices on Station Street where I trained as an audio typist which was the new thing in the 60’s. I was there for a year but hated it, got fed up of being told how good Boots were and the supervisor of our typing pool (do they still have them?) was a b***h so I left and went to Cavendish-Woodhouse for the princely sum of £4/10/0!
  14. The poodle mix means they don’t shed hair apparently so are okay for people with allergies I am actually allergic to dog hair, it was always bad when my two boys were moulting but my spray and tablets controlled it and they were worth the occasional sneeze and sniffle. Don't mind a dog or bitch, aren’t bitches supposed to be more faithful, just will have whichever one picks me. We went for a walk the other day, headed towards Wollaton Hall via Old Coach Road and had a wander around a newish estate that has been built. Found some more dog walking paths around there with woods and fiel
  15. I haven’t seen my monster spider for a long while BK, don’t know if she is still hanging around somewhere in one of the sheds in the side room. I do have a more normal sized one that keeps appearing occasionally on the wall of that room but we are ignoring each other at the moment. I have never had a cage before, not that keen on them to be honest but it will only be used for him/her at night and when I have to go out. The rest of the time he/she will have the run of the house and garden. I will leave the door open on it whilst I am in so the pup can go in and out of it if it wants. As he
  16. Not at first BK he/she will be too small. By the time they could they should know they are not allowed on furniture or the table will have to have a new home!
  17. I am waiting to hear about the litter of puppies which will be born anytime now so decided to have a go puppy proofing the house. It made me realise how puppy unfriendly it is. I have a rack with shoes on in the hall, wires that can be easily got to and stuff in baskets on the shelf under my coffee table plus I am used to just putting things down and leaving them, also throws over chairs and settee. Neither Kai or Wolf would touch these things obviously as they were older dogs and knew not to. So this morning I have rearranged my front room moving my sideboard in front of the broadband/phone
  18. Whilst browsing Nottinghamlive I noticed there are a lot of planning applications to turn buildings into student flats. When I came back to Nottingham I was amazed at the number of buildings that are student flats, in some places it seems that every other building is. Obviously a cash cow project I presume. In my “youff” when I had a flat in Forest Fields (loved living there except when the fair was on) there were students living there in shared flats/bedsits in that area. We had some move into the ground floor flat in the house next door, we got to know them they had magnificent parties! Th
  19. I was working in Cavendish/Woodhouse Default Department. As we did all the bad debts from England it was an absolute nightmare converting the court documents for new cases and ongoing ones and for the first few weeks we had to do old money and new money figures side by side. From what I can remember everything was rounded up not down!
  20. When I went to The Forest for my jab I was asked for my letter which luckily I had received the day after I booked and had taken with me as I was told I would be asked for it. Don’t know if it is still the same now or not.
