  1. Re your post on The Bobbers Mill crossing you and the chap who answered your post you are totally wrong with regards to some of the detail. I am Marie (nee Marshall) and I am the 3rd oldest of my 4 siblings. You were correct as far as our family name but were wrong in what you said about my mother. She didn't go around in an army greatcoat & boots pushing a "barrow" if your referring to my youngest sister Jaqueline  I know for a fact that she had a push chair, the only one of us that had special needs was my brother Peter who was 4th of the 5 of us, he suffered with a heart murmur from birth. I really would ask people to get their facts right before submitting throw away comments on other people's lives.

The chap that said Peter had Callipers is also totally wrong, I don't know who he was talking about but it wasn't my brother!!

Had the magnifying glass out and I think I am in the 2nd row 2nd from the left (the only child without a jumper or jacket) and I had a teacher named Mrs Peak I was 10 years old then, The boy Marshall is no relation to my family.

Yes. Myself, Janet, and my brother William went to Berridge School. My sister and I then went to Scotholme Secondry School, William went to Peverill comprehensive, as did Jaqueline. Peter had fair hair, he came down to Dorset with my brother to attend my daughters wedding in 1991.

I have been on Google to look at the house, quite sad to see its all gone, we did have a lot of happy memories, the only thing that looked as if we were "different" was because we was the only family who didn't have friends/neighbours near us.

I haven't been back to Nottm for approx 40 years, and doubt it will be any time soon. William, Peter and Jacqueline are still living in Nottm, Janet and her husband and eventually her children moved here in Blandford, Dorset, way back in 1984.

Apology accepted, As regards Peter, I am no longer in touch with him. My mother didn't work for the railway ever, she passed away in 1975.  My Father passed away in 1981 . Just for the record my elder sister Janet died last year aged 69. We may have been poor way back, who wasn't, but we were happy and normal as you and I.

Yes we did live at the railway house, my Dad was a lorry driver working for the railway hence we lived in the railway crossing house, when we lived there the gates were un - manned because the new road bridge had been built. I would like to reiterate, none of us with the exception of Peter had "special needs" , in fact at 17 my brother William (eldest) joined The Parachute Regt and served his country for 9 years.
