  1. Fancy owning up Trogg. I made a point of not divulging any names. You may as well admit to splitting bog rolls into single ply sheets now, and clear your conscience.
  2. I knew a bloke who used to split his matches with a razor blade.
  3. @Philmayfield, ¿usted no hablar Español ? Ian Finn, do you not speak Canadianese yet?
  4. Often wondered why people looked at me and burst out laughing.
  5. I don't worry about what the future holds. As a dear friend once said to me, " I look at it this way, how many summer holidays have I got left"?
  6. No Mel., I usually give them away. The kettle I've done for my brother in law. He plans on adding it to an ex drinking fountain, to make a water feature/bird bath. B.
  7. Something to do with a drinks coaster...
  8. There you go Ian, that's the last butterfly done. An interpretation of a Peacock. Hope you approve... The little one is an Orange tip.
  9. Okay Phil., enlighten me. What's a Barnsley chop?
  10. Struggling Ian, struggling. Keep cutting my hands on the inside lip edge. Even had my hand stuck inside on Thursday.
  11. Now the lid is finished. Made a temporary handle, as I left the brass finial in Notts...( small Tortoiseshell butterfly)
  12. Have made a start Sunshine ! With a bit of luck might be able to do a bit more tomorrow and possibly post you a picture. The light has been terrible today, really struggling to see what I'm doing. This copper kettle is by far, the worst item Iv'e ever painted on. It's heavy and bloody awkward shape. Keep cutting my hands when trying to hold it, ( got me hand stuck inside yesterday ).
  13. Ian, with all the moves youv'e made, it's called, 'being one step ahead of the law'.
  14. @katyjay, I can go one better than that. Many years ago, in mid 70s, I had a beard when I worked as a ranger at the National water sports centre. Had the beard for quite a while, then.... Our son, Andrew said to his mum, "That's not my real dad is it?" Tina asked him what he meant by that, and he replied, "My real dad's got a beard". Tina looked at me and shocked said, "Oh, when did you shave that off"? To which I replied, '7 nights ago ! And we've been to bed since then' !!
  15. Nip up to Middlesborough Phil., they've not spoken English for years.
  16. Thank you Siddha, very much appreciated. As are all words of encouragement. One strives to do the best, but the older I get, the more taxing and tiring it becomes. I'll post the other side, when it's done.
  17. Thank you Lizzie. Just finished putting another little friend next to it. It's very heavy and difficult to hold still. When sun shining on it, it's blinding and you can't see where to apply the paint. Tomorrow I will start the other side and I think it will be either a Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell or Swallowtail.
  18. @IAN FINN, if your'e up and about, you asked me to keep you posted re the Copper kettle. Well, here is the first instalment. It is an absolute bugger to paint in sunlight, as the reflection is blinding. B.i.L is delighted with it though...
  19. @trogg, 'the cold never bothered you', for a minute there I thought you were going to burst into the song from "Frozen". " Do ya wanna build a snowmaaan"?
  20. Tell you what Cherub, I'll give it ago and provide it for your adjudication. And it won't be Willow pattern.
  21. Take care S.G. I wish you well and hope your'e feeling better soon.x B.
  22. Hiya Mary, how do ! As I recall, we have already discussed this on two occasions. And at the risk of repeating meself, I can't be motivated to purchase the special brushes, inks and paper required. At the moment I've got some projects on the go, including a copper kettle for my B.i.L., also a pair of mini churns that I want to do as a pair, although I've no idea what the subject will be yet. The kettle will be Butterfly themed, as per request. Are you going to show me the Panda you painted?
  23. What part of Radford did you live Lets? And which school was it, you walked to.? I lived off top end of Denman street, on Denton street. Stayed there until we moved to Kennington road in 1957. I'm always interested in anybody who lived in my neck of the woods, ( even though I'm a bit older than you ).
  24. Well, that's the other side done. And as a homage to Rog. Plantfit I've included a castle for him. Next will be a Copper Kettle for my brother in law...
