  1. One must agree with ones views Philip. i just wonder how far down the line of succession one is?
  2. Looks a lovely building CT. What a waste.
  3. Wishing you all the best of luck Ben. Hope all continues well. Regards, Him dahn sarf.
  4. Mary1947, I wouldn't go as far as saying the couple are well loved. In my humble opinion, she put him up to all the moves. I reckon were well rid of them, they could take a few more of the parasites with them. Can you visualise "Queen Meghan"? She couldn't fit in with royalty, she's not in the same league. She wanted the fairytale dream of marrying a Prince but couldn't cope with all it entails.
  5. Thank you for your input Margie. I knew it wasn't going to be their usual slapstick, but I did enjoy it. Another film I can recommend, is "Lad, a Yorkshire tale". It was being discussed on a morning program with one of the actors. It's won loads of 'best films awards, World wide. I searched on you tube and there it was, so streamed onto me telly. Job done. Good film.
  6. Just finished watching a BBC film, " Stan and Ollie". A bloody good film and guess what! No swearing. Steve Coogan played a brilliant Stan Laurel, miles away from his Alan Partridge. A most enjoyable film. Going to save it tomorrow.
  7. I'll own up..I can't claim it. I heard it on an old Jasper Carrott recording. Sorry if I offended you Kath. (Says he, lying through his teeth).
  8. 'Newark', the only town that's a anagram of wanker.
  9. I remember the skate being hollow ground as ther were not figure skate, but hockey skates. Football boots wi blades on. I didn't have any guards on them, so was always cutting me fingers after they'd been sharpened. Could fly round the rink though !
  10. As a kid I had 1 or 2 'uncles', but that's a story I wouldn't wish to air on this channel. My childhood was crap without adding to it !
  11. There used to be a sports shop on Alfreton Rd., a bit further up from Boden Street. I used to take me ice skates there to be sharpened. Didn't make me skate any better though! Maybe I didn't fall over as much. That would be circa 1960.
  12. Veering a bit (again). Does anybody know anything about "Viber"? A chat app for swapping messages and pictures, as opposed to using email.
  13. Is that going "Cold Turkey" Margie?
  14. They only moved in a couple of years ago. Didn't have owt to do with anybody and never mixed. Don't think I've ever spoke to him. But still, RIP Boris.
  15. My next door neighbour Boris, passed away at the weekend, on Covid ward at Haywards Heath, Princess Royal Hospital.
  16. Phil, back in 1989/90 I used to drive steam locos. Mind you, it was 3.5 and 5 inch gauge, up at Tonbridge Model Engineering track.
  17. How do Alan, welcome to NS, or the "Crazy Gang" as some folk call it. You might like to know that you're not the only ex-pat living down in the deep south. I'm just down the road from you, near Sheffield Park and the Bluebell railway. My sister in law lives in Stapleford. Look forward to hearing more of your memories. Kindest regards, Beekay.
  18. Don't know what the link is Trogg, but I can't open it, sorry. Can see the map Trogg, cheers.
  19. No idea Phil, hence the query. Apparently, my mum and dad lived the in 1939, 4 years before I were born. Hoped that some kind soul would have a street map that could help me.
  20. QUERY..Can anybody help please. I'm trying to find out the location, where it was or if still there of Mulberry Street, Nottingham. Any help will be gratefully received. Thanking you in anticipation. Barrie.
  21. I introduced the subject of Scabies a few posts ago. What I didn't mention, because I didn't want to make too long, but a school pal of 'er indoors also caught Scabies. She was prescribed a similar treatment to us. But after the two baths and treatments, she was still itching, not realising that it was dead mites coming to the surface, she thought she still had it. She finished the bottle and bought some more and kept splashing it all over. She finished up being admitted to hospital with severe chemical burns !
