  3. @plantfit, I see from your prevoius post, 12 hours ago that you went to Lincoln to have a vhs tape of steam engines converted to dvd. Not sure if you would be interested, but I have four vhs tapes of steam engines that I would be delighted to put on a dvd for you. If memory serves me correct, I managed to get all four tapes on to one disc. I'll post this and go and check out the titles for you in the meantime. I'm pretty sure at least one involves "Flying Scotsman"4472, as she was.

  4. I recently had a letter from Works and Pensions advising me that, now I am 80 years old, I will receive an age increase of...wait for it....0.25pence.

Think it's time to put down a deposit for a Porche.

  5. @DAVIDW, Being the first time I tried Mayflower, I followed the instructions, and weighed out 3gm and put in a jug with the relevant amount of water. Stuck it in t'owd micro with regular stirring. It was lovely and thick, but I made too much so I poured the rest into an ice cube tray and froze it. Brought a couple of cubes as needed and it was still tasty. I have to thank 'Bald Foody Guy' on youtube for that one. thumbsup

  6. @Brew, He is a she Brew, I never knew she existed until a week ago. I did return her post that she sent via Whatsapp, but as yet, not had a reply. I forwarded it to another cousin who managed to open it and said something about a property in Chilwell area being sold for £500,000.

Still like to find out more though. I'm now intrigued.

  7. @MelissaJKelly, having tried the cheaper home brands and not being happy with them, we now stick with McCaines home chips. They're not the cheapest, but, in my humble opinion, they are the nearest thing to home made chips. Don't like those 'Steak chips', it's like eating a log.

But they're all lovely with Mayflower curry sauce mix !

  8. That's what I was trying to tell yuz Phil. McCaines 1.5k bag of Home chips ( not fries ) and Youngs battered fish. There's a variety of mushy peas available, usually all under 0.50p. I get mine from Aldi or Tesco, although we've started using a newly opened Home Bargains. ( they do Harry Ramsden mushy peas).

  9. Not lard @mary1947, but Beef dripping. I understand it is still used in many chippies in Yorkshire.

When I were talking about Linga Longenough, it was'nt after a night on the lash, but taking our 4 year son for a paddle at Skegness. It was on our way back to Chapel St.Leonards  that we called at Linga for some late lunch. Tasted like everything was cooked in detergent ( or worse).

    Your servant ma'am.
