  1. In my youth, 1950s and 60s, The biggest annual event next to Xmas was the annual summer holiday. If we were lucky we would get a whole week away; if not then it would be odd days out on either bus, train or hire car. This is a photo of me at about two or three years old circa 1953 at Skeggy:
  2. In the 60's came the cheap package holidays. Folks could go abroad for the first time ever. I think I was the first in our family to have a passport, when I went to Lloret de Mar with 3 other girls from my office. It was September 1965, I was 18. We booked it through Martin Rooks brochure, it was 2 weeks, all in [with air fare] and cost 18 guineas. The plane was a prop, not a jet. Where to and when was your first holiday abroad?
  3. SWBMO has been looking for flights to the south of France tonight. Found one.. EMA - Biarritz - EMA... £1,242 each! Bargain!
  4. a while back I made a thread about the sun holidays. well I'm quite impressed. although it's abit misleading, it's not 30quid at all but in total it's cost us 92quid for Monday to friday in a bungalow in st.Ives, I can't complain at all, rather excited! anyone got any holidays booked this year? while on the subject, can anyone recommend any car hire in Nottingham as the partner has a small car and wants to hire one to get to and around Cornwall.
  5. As you can tell I am back off of my jollies, we had a reasonable time , although the weather could have been better it wasn't bad for the time of year (only rained on the day we came home) Left here on Sunday afternoon at 12.15 pm and set my computer cruise to "NO BAST**D OVER TAKES ME" and arrived 300 miles later in Camelford at 5.15pm . Not bad when you think that I have a four year old, "Are we there yet" after we had been on the M6 for less than 10 miles I had a good days fishing catching loads of Pollack and a Spotted Ray on which I gashed my hand open (Requiring hospital attentio
  6. Me, my bandy legs and Bill & Ben hat at the great pyramid in Chichen Itza. Pic courtesy of a jolly helpful German chap. The EU has many uses.... Nuff said..
  7. Anyone remember the holidays the Nottingham Evening Post used to run in the seventies? I'm particularly interested in one that would have been between between 1974 and 1976 and I think it was to Moscow? Would love to find out exactly when it was. Andy
