In my youth, 1950s and 60s, The biggest annual event next to Xmas was the annual summer holiday. If we were lucky we would get a whole week away; if not then it would be odd days out on either bus, train or hire car. This is a photo of me at about two or three years old circa 1953 at Skeggy:

In the 60's came the cheap package holidays. Folks could go abroad for the first time ever. I think I was the first in our family to have a passport, when I went to Lloret de Mar with 3 other girls from my office. It was September 1965, I was 18. We booked it through Martin Rooks brochure, it was 2 weeks, all in [with air fare] and cost 18 guineas. The plane was a prop, not a jet. Where to and when was your first holiday abroad?

Not bad when you think that I have a four year old, "Are we there yet" after we had been on the M6 for less than 10 miles I had a good days fishing catching loads of Pollack and a Spotted Ray on which I gashed my hand open (Requiring hospital attentio

Anyone remember the holidays the Nottingham Evening Post used to run in the seventies? I'm particularly interested in one that would have been between between 1974 and 1976 and I think it was to Moscow? Would love to find out exactly when it was. Andy
