  1. Hi everyone. Hippo Girl and I have set up a new group on Facebook to gather information about the clubs of Nottingham. I know there is much info on these pages and I have been looking through it, but I thought I would let you know and if anyone wants to help, you can join the group. It is called 'Scene Before in Nottingham'. Cheers Maurice
  2. Hi I was wondering if anyone had any information/memories they could share on the now closed ISIS nightclub on Lenton Industrial Estate (opposite the Showcase Cinema?) in particular whether anyone knows if the interior is still accessible? I very much doubt it but I'd really like to get inside for a video project I'm producing about Nottingham clubs. Anything at all would be greatly appreciated, can't seem to find much info on the Internet so far. Thanks colsmith50
  3. Well I finally got around to making a short video of recent progress on the organ for those of you who might be interested. Actually made over 45 minutes. Edited it down to 20. That should tell you something. One point I forgot to mention for those who might be curious. On the stop tabs you may also notice numbers. 8, 4, 2 16 etc. In a pipe organ those numbers refer to the length of the pipes. An 8ft pipe playing middle C is the same frequency as you would find on a piano. A 4ft pipe would play an octave higher, 2ft an octave higher yet. I just mention that for the musicians among you. Although their are no pipes in an electronic organ the same rules are followed. Anyway I hope you will not throw any digital tomatoes. I'm doin' me best. Edited to add. Sounds best on headphones if you want to hear much pedal
  4. 5. The Empire Empire Palace of Varieties opened in 1898 and lasted 60 glorious, racy years, showing risqué comics, saucy ladies, mind-boggling magicians and rock 'n' roll stars, with huge billings including Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd. Read more: http://archive.thisisnottingham.co.uk/Imposing-stately-pleasure-drome-styled-like/story-19582110-detail/story.html#ixzz2lXAvyDb3 I remember Dad taking me to the Empire occasionally. We sat up in the cheaper Gods of course. He's call in Watmoughs sweet shop, and Dad would splash out on 2oz of Nuthalls Mintos! If I was lucky, I;d get one cut in half with his trusty penknife! http://tgc6266gmail.blogspot.co.uk/ I always seemed to get sat behind a pillar, and spent most of my time standing up to see the acts. Do you have any memories of this wonderful old place to share please? Cheers.
