Catfan, thanks for the links to the 'then and now' photos of the Grey Goose. Made me feel sad that it's no longer there, though. Was it losing money or did developers just make a good offer for the site?

#33.

I don't think the smoking ban helped MargieH, it was a pub I never went in, although at one time I worked at Gedling pit.

My only connection is that I delivered most of the bricks & concrete blocks to that site when they pulled the Grey Goose down !

The developers seem to specialise in buying redundant pubs & building care home.

I know several what were built on as care homes.

I really cannot say anymore without getting in to trouble !

Hi, I'm back! after a very traumatic time when my previous 'server' cut off both phone & B'band. It's still ongoing so I won't bore you with the details but it couldn't have happened at a worse time, less than a month before our 65th. Wedding Anniversary on March 18th. We had 3 'Do's' planned, a Saturday Family (of course) meal so the 2 youngest grandsons still at university could attend,a buffet lunch for 40 or so Sequence dance friends on the 18th. & a carvery lunch for 20 homebrew wine groupies the following Sunday. I'm pleased to say they all went off well but mobile phones can be useful!

The best man, Alan 'Lefty'Wright, we started at Sneinton Blvd. school together and is Barbara's Uncle so my best pal became my uncle too!

I'm also pleased to say that all the front row are still costing Geo. Osborne a bob or two every week!

Thanks to Bubblewrap for telling us it was the "Blue Saphire" anniversary, never heard of it before.

Your wedding photo is absolutely wonderful Albert and Barbara and many congratulations on your 65th Anniversary, that really is a grand achievement. Glad to hear you managed several celebrations back in March too, well done!
