ChrisB 150
I had a TV on rental from DER for many years. I stayed with them when they changed ownership, at one point they became Boxclever, I can't remember if they operated under any other names. Eventually, I acquired another set and told them I didn't want to rent any more. They told me I could buy the set I'd been renting, something which had never occurred to me.. Well, I thought if it was a reasonable price I might buy it as a spare because although it was an old set, it had never been any trouble. When they came back to me with a price, I couldn't believe it, TEN POUNDS! And I'd been paying them about £18 a month for many many years!
LizzieM 9,497
Colour TV definitely started in UK in 1967. I saw colour tv for the first time at a boyfriend's house in Widmerpool. He was the son of a Nottingham scrap metal merchant, mentioning no names here! Apart from the wonders of seeing television in colour I also saw piles of gambling chips on the sideboard ...... summat I'd NEVER seen in my life before !!

Jill Sparrow 10,267
#30 I remember that place. It was more or less next door to Landers, the bakery shop and place to purchase lunchtime eats. Whatever happened to them?
Guest
Were Landers part of Turners Bakery?..seem to recall one near the Library on Angel Row..changed the name to The Lite Bite?
