My cousin, who is clued up on such trivia. tells me of the coincidences which surrounded the collision of the Royal Navy's HMS Nottingham with an Australian island in 2002.

The ship collided with a rock off Earl Howe Island.

Earl Howe was a native, and resident, of Langar Notts.

He built, and lived, at Langar Hall, now the famous hotel/restaurant.

He was also a High Admiral in the Royal Navy, arguably the highest ranking ever Notts born sailor.....

The HMS Nottingham helmsman at the time of the collision was a native of Barnstone.....less than a mile down the road from Langar!

Question:

Which famous set of broadcasters always stay at the Langar Hall Hotel on their occasional visits to the county?

Cheers

Not Jonners [long gone] but the modern day Test Match Special team.

Blofeld, Selvey, Frindall, CMJ and co.

The Noble Game is clearly a Forum 'blind spot'....

Your question on LA Sanderson's pies [food of the Gods] keenly awaited...

Cheers

They might just have to start re-commissioning some of the old girls if the news today is anything to go by. All 6 of the new all singing, all dancing new jobs need millions spending on them to cure a serious problem. The generators aren't big enough and they lose all power at critical moments.
