Michael Booth 7,364
Daphne Oxenford was the BBC radio presenter of 'Listen With Mother' in the 50's and 60's and used to begin with the words, "Are you sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin". She passed away at the age of 93. R.I.P.
Beefsteak 305
I did mention this in December when we were discussing "Listen with Mother" I searched for her on wiki and found she had just died. (Don't ask me to search for any body else please)
jackson 301
RIP Daphne; such a lovely, sunny, warm, welcoming voice - I can hear it in my imagination today.
SeanF 12
I knew I knew her name, but it wasn't until reading today's Daily Express that I saw her picture I knew who it was. I remember watching her (in a repeat) of "Man About The House" in which she played Paula Wilcox's mother. I agree Jackson, she did have a warm and welcoming voice. R.I.P Daphne Oxenford.
