Never a fan of Bowie, but looking back now admit he was one of the greats.

This video is naf! what is the woman there for?

The image just shows his age.

After 10 years, this is the best he can do?

God used to love Bowie ! used to have his stuff playing from cassette tapes whilst working in in the late 60'S early 70's.

Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,Space Odity, The man Who Sold the World.

After that last effort, its a bout time he gave it away ! Silly old fart !

Thing I'm most suprised at, is the fuss that the newspapers and media are making about this.

Like....Bowie speaks !

New classic song....

I've got to say, it sounds like a very dreary effort to me, and only really serves to remind people of how good his stuff used to be.

I had heard that Bowie himself was in very poor health after having 2 heart attacks and the years of abuse catching up with him.

Tony Visconti said on the TV that Bowie was in very good health, but he certainly didn't look it at the end of the video!

I'm sure Bowie fans will be downloading this like mad.

Personally I'd prefer to remember the good stuff.

'One man's meat'.

I'll go against the grain here and say I quite like it.

It's plaintive, melancholy and even a little disturbing in some ways.

To be fair, I'd doubt there are many Bowie fans that post here. :)

The man is a true great and completely unique - an innovator as Jackson says.

I'll look forward to the new album apparently due soon.

Lets hope there is better material than that on it.

Reminds me of me turning my back on one of my teenage heros. Carlos Santana.

First, Abraxas and Santana III, great albums.

Bought 'Caravansarai' on its day of release, and again found it to be Crap!

I quite like it too, it's very minimal and melocholic - a bit Leonard Cohen (ish)? Also reminds me a bit of some krautrock from the 70's and the video of scenes from Berlin reinforce that.

I too was a fan of Bowies earlier stuff, off the wall, out to test peoples perception of what music was all about, pushing the boundaries etc etc...........

Unfortunately this one comes across as an aging mans lament for days long gone, it's also a fallacy to compare this to Leonard Cohens work, Cohen is/was & continues to be a poet above all else.

But as ever this is IMHO

Well, it won't matter to you will it as you were self-admittedly 'never a fan'!

That's what I was thinking too, Zab. Kind of takes me back to his era in that city. Atmospheric.

Well yes because I respect all older artists who have survived over many decades, my tastes have changed since 1970.

Then I would not think of buying records made by a man wearing blue eye make up!

However I did like Lou Reed's 'walk on the wild side'.

Unlike some of todays manufactured bands, here today gone tomorrow.

There will never be another Band like 'Rolling Stones' who can still turn out good stuff.

Perhaps, I didn't word it very well - I'm not comparing this lyrically to any Cohens work because they just don't stand comparison. However, Cohen's songs do have a melancholic mood and it was that I was referring to; it seems Bowie is missing his days in Berlin.

Point taken Zab.................Bowies only 'missing' days in Berlin were perhaps chemically induced ones................. :)

In the 1980's, The Trotters were selling David Bowies L.P's. I wonder how hard thet would have to work to sell his new C.D.

Only Fools And Horses

Closing Lyrics:

We've got some half price cracked ice and miles and miles of carpet tiles,
T.V.s, deep freeze and David Bowie L.P.s,
Ball games, gold chains, whassa-names, and at a push,
Some Trevor Francis track suits from a mush in Shepherds Bush,
Bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, bush ...
No income tax, no V.A.T.,
No money back, no guarantee,
Black or white, rich or poor,
We'll cut prices at a stroke......
God bless Hooky Street,
Viva Hooky Street,
Long live Hooky Street,
C'est magnifique, Hooky Street,
Magnifique, Hooky Street,
Hooky Street

It's not actually obligatory to like it! We all have different tastes and you have made us aware of yours (several times) and that's fair enough.

Just put down the mouse and walk away from the screen, Mick!
