Oh, and Happy Birthday big fella, good to see you at L E last night, but where was Mondo?

Also, Stu Morris is not well at all at the moment, looks like hes in need of a new knee, I just want to wish him well, and if and when he does get it sorted, a speedy recovery.

It looks like all talk of The Dungeon has moved here in the Mods And Rockers section, so, a quick query, and correct me if im wrong, or add info, my recollection of The Dungeons opening days, were, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, (normal and all nighters) and Sunday for all dayers.

Am I right or what? Maybe its just that I only ever went on those days...........

I remember seeing Bolt at R.O.T in 1961, was it him or some other biker who had barbed wire wrapped around his jacket? His outfit was known as Bolt's Coffin. Another guy called Johnny Dench had a com

No,no,no,no,no, oh ok then. Many years ago on a Nottingham Forest trip to Lyon . Lots of beer, then lots of Cotes Du Rhone, then a "bumpy" taxi ride to the ground shook me up so I fell into the arms

Is this the rice pud bit ?????

The band started out as the N'Betweens in 1966 with Noddy Holder and amongst others were Tony Taylor (aka Big T), formed from members of two Midlands bands, The Vendors and Steve Brett & The Mavericks. They initially had little success, apart from on the local club circuit, where they were extremely busy and in the late 1960s the band changed its name to Ambrose Slade and hooked up with manager Chas Chandler. Their name was eventually shortened to Slade, and the band adopted a skinhead look, as an attempt to gain publicity from what was a newsworthy youth fashion trend. They later abandoned this look, due to the unwelcome association with football hooliganism. They grew their hair long again, in time to become a leading part of the glam rock movement, releasing songs with deliberately Black Country-style mis-spelled titles which made them stand out.

Did Dave Hill have a rice puddin bowl on his head to have his haircut ?

Ambrose Slade was a local (Black Country) old man, renowned for being punch drunk most of the time .Same way Frank Skinner got his name.

Dave Hills car reg was YOB 1 , and if I look deep (And I mean deep) in my old record callection , I have picture sleeve of Noddy and the boys all with that 'Skinhead'

I've always been a fan of Slade, never met them, but they always come across as a great bunch. I would love them to reform some time ( Sort out their differences)

Don Powell had a bad car crash a good few years back now, causing a serious head injury including amnesia. And yes he would often sit there and ask "Ere Nodday who's this one goo agen?" In a Black Country accent. Then Noddy would have to remind him .

It's supposed to be one of those "Hundred Films to see before you die" I have never seen more than the first ten minutes or so (Don't they have a car crash in that too?

Dave Hill is still touring as Slade . IMMSC it was Jimmy Lea who contracted stage fright , but I may be wrong there.

I met the boys ages back, in fact I still have "Merry Christmas Everybody" thay they all signed for me.

However, I went off Noddy when I lost my show on Century in favour of him!

He great at singing, but leaves a lot to be desired as a dj!

Or is that sour grapes???? thumbsdown
