Yes there was most definitely Robert Hirst.  He called himself Spence at that time because he loved The Spencer Davis Group. And he adored Sam and Dave. He wasn't in the best of health Davi'sW in 2013

thing was thinking back we weren't so much hippies as lazy idiots, we thought we were clever, gods gift, we weren't. for 6 months i moved around with them, sleeping 10 to a room, with only 3 of us do

The only sixties groups I can remember were the Beat Men at the Locarno and the University dances in the early 60's - Rob Barnes who is a friend of my hubbys played the drums, he was a great drummer and did a drum solo, they eventually went to Germany...........The Comanchies and the Tremeloes who were small groups played around Hucknall Town........Reg Guest Trio was a resident Group at the Grey Goose Gedling late 50's/60's............I can remember going to the Boat Clubs in the early 60's and listening to a few good groups, cannot remember their names though........The Leen Valley Jazz men played at the Half Moon Pub in Hucknall on a Monday Night, they were a brilliant band to jive too......brings back some good memories for me....

Blondie,

We saw Reg Guest Trio many times in the Grey Goose in the 60s. Plenty of live bands to dance to. My family all used to get together there most weekends. Mam and her sisters used to Waltz and Quickstep round that dance floor. I can't remember if they did it to pop music or if they played music specially for that kind of dancing. That was in the days when it was so popular there. You had to queue to get into the big room. There would be someone sitting between the Lounge and Dance Room taking entrance money. Probably about Half Crown. Another thing that escapes my memory. Good Times.

Anyone recall a band called Light Fantastic'? I saw them a few times at the Festival Inn, Trowell.

Their theatrical performance included the coffin act, when vocalist/bass player Ron Dickson would emerge wearing Dracula and Monster make-up (pre-Alice Cooper)

I can remember going to see them with a fella called Ray I met at the Ice Stadium, he was related to one of the group........great time...
