taxi ray 170
Where is Stu, I bet he would know the answer to this one.
NewBasfordlad 3,599
At the moment I think it's call Oscar's Lounge. Don't know what it was before this. Colin
Michael Booth 7,364
Stu hasn't been posting for a while, probably taking a break from it. (#7). If any new members fancy a good read then take a look at Stu's website called 'Tears Of A Clown'. Two of the latest articles are about 'The Human Pin Cushion' and the lead singer from 'Sweet', Brian Connolly.
Steed 0
I was trying to fing the name of the pub which was across from the Sneinten bottoms....the big junction there at parliament St....the pub was at the bottom on the road up to the Lac Market? I do remember the Castle pub, a bit further along on Parliament st but this one has me stumped???

denshaw 2,871
There was one on Parliament st/ Poplar st had Partridge in the name, Dog and Partridge?
Commo 1,292
Den, I was trying to recall that one, but I was of the mind it was a Pheasant, not a Partridge!? Poet and Pheasant perhaps ? Sure that someone will have the definitive answer, though this aint the one Steed was on about. How about The Town Arms on Plumptre Square, close to the bottom of Barker Gate ? Fox and Grapes at bottom of the Fruit and Veg market on Lower Parliament Street ?
Cliff Ton 10,464
Or this one which is still at the bottom of Hockley? http://goo.gl/maps/vmGgF
FLY2 10,108
#10 & #13, I do believe it was just called The Stag and Pheasant. I remember playing darts for the Malt Shovel (Beeston) there many years ago.
denshaw 2,871
Thats the one, D&P was close. Where was Parliament st junction near sneinton and Lace market?
Cliff Ton 10,464
Or this, which was officially known as Plumtree Square, on the edge of the Lace Market near Parliament Street. Dunno the name of the pub, which is the white building with the burn-out roof.
FLY2 10,108
Was this the Plumtree Arms
denshaw 2,871
It was the Town Arms in the sixties/ seventies. The large 2 storey warehouse to the left was a tyre depot.
Paulus 541
This one? http://www.picturethepast.org.uk/frontend.php?action=printdetails&keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;NTGM004325&prevUrl= Is this the pub that was formerly a Berni Inn?
Cliff Ton 10,464
Not absolutely certain but I think it was a Berni in the last years of its existence.
bazalways 26
It certainly is Paulus, the last owners of the pub was a Mr Li & his sons James Daniel & Mark. They opened it as a Cantonese Restaurant a few years before the planned ice stadium project. I loved to eat there, when it closed I felt Nottingham had lost its finest Cantonese food. James still runs a takeaway on Mapperley Top.
denshaw 2,871
It was a Berni inn in the seventies.
