benjamin1945 13,727
Remember playing football against them for Padstow.........we beat them 10--0 on Wollaton Park........not one to brag, but i scored 4 goals in the first half.........our games teacher mr Taylor not one to let lads get carried away with themselves...made me go in goal for the second half.....and the goalie i replaced Alan Allsop.......scored 4 goals in the second half...........the game from about 1957 as always stuck in my mind for obvious reasons, can even recall most of our team,  Allsop, Marshall, Bell,,Leatherland,,Musson,,Hickman,,Dexter,,Jenner,,Churchill,,Disney,,yours truly,,  i'm wrong remember all eleven................lol
LizzieM 8,669
The 1933 Cottesmore School football team.  My Dad seated in the middle, assume he was Captain as he’s got the ball at his feet.
LizzieM 8,669
I don’t think there’s a thread for Nottingham Schools football so I’ll post this photo along with my dad’s school team pic. This is the Nottingham Boys team 1935.  Dad far left on front row .........bless him, he looks like he’s the only lad who’d had a wash that day.  Top right is the cousin (or brother?) of Bertie Mee, the Bulwell-born footballer and then Arsenal Manager Wonder if the Mee boy ever got his ears pinned back, poor lad. 3
