Nice to see that folks have the same memories of parents and grandparents attire. My dad used to wear a Harris Tweed Jacket and always a tie and trousers with turnups and segs in his shoes and my mum always looked immaculate until the day she passed. She was a seamstress so most of our clothes were hand made. It was always  an event if we went on holiday to decide on our holiday clothes and make them. I still have her old Singer sewing machine. She reckoned that the beginning of the end of smart clothes came with the wearing of jeans.
